Taiwan PAK Map fixed
I have fixed the PAK_OUTLINE_OVERLAY.tga and PAK_REGION_OVERLAY.tga for the Taiwan theater. Here it is the result:
The patch is here:
PAKTaiwan.zip
[Edit]Right button over the link and Save as... Rename as PAKTaiwan.zip
It is a zip file that contains the two intel.* files that you need to put into (Falcondir)\Theaters\Taiwan\art\art\resource. You'd better backup the two intel.* files first!

Read PAK Tutorial. I am simply not following that path for the PAK bitmaps: the Saving PAK bitmap paragraph is not working for me. The Show PAK map View option simply gives me white screen. So I am creating the bitmaps from the .pak file.derstef wrote:how can this be done? can anybody do this?
But this file depends on the selected primary and secondary cities, so it involves extensive editing of the three campaign files, that I am not doing on my own. The .pak itself only needs editing one .cam to be made, but must be consistent with others, there is only one .pak for the three .cam's .
So my edit is consistent with the present iteration of the theater, if there are changes, then I will remake it.

My 2 cents on .cam editing:
In order to achieve the PAK structure you want, you must reassign priorities. Remember primary cities are those with priority 81 or bigger. I see problems: there are no cities nor towns at all in eastern Taiwan. And there are no primary cities in central Taiwan. So obviously you have to promote Tai Chung to primary city giving it priority 81 or bigger, and promote a village like Shi Ti Ping or Hua Lien or whereever. Really I have found that DCW data sometimes misses between towns and villages, and in Korea data there are many promoted places, so you know much better than me what to change.
Making Peng Hu a PAK means creating a primary city named like that.
And Kinmen/Chinmen a PAK, means the same.
At this point, it will be good to rethink the PAKs on the continent, a mere four is very simple to me and leaves theater useless for continental ground war sceneries.
So these are not simply graphic problems, it is necessary to redo many things...
I have looked at the links, original save0 have real problems in north Taiwan area, there are changes on derstef's save2 but still two crossing links. Perhaps some of the weird ground troops movement is caused by this.

Making the PAK cities is quite easy, but the image is bitch to make if I recall correctly. I cant promise anything, but keep reminding me with PM's and maybe I'll give it a shot.

it would be cool if you could make the PAK map as ccc mentioned, but please give the japanese islands also an own PAK..

say, the pak file Closter created is pretty good, see the pic at first post.
i dunno what new pak file we need.. for campaign purpose, i bet most ground war is on taiwan - so the pak setting in Closter's is ok. for PAK in China, that's ok too - check this pic..in RL out theater covers mainly Nanjing military region and part of Guangzhou MR.
the meaning of pak in china is not that important, for no ground fighting. BUT - if you define new pak according to what airbase/stationed with what ac type, it could be of some significance. why? the airbases in costal area PAK is mostly short-leg fighters, light attackers. those long leg fighter, attack and bombers are inland pak.
in closter's pak setting, the uppermost pak could be set to Nangchang( not a RL option), the coastal pak set to Fuzhou, the lowerest set to Anbu or other large city at SW corner.. as for the west side pak.. err anything will do.

I thought last Taiwan beta included my PAK Map fix! (See picture in last CCC's post)
As I've said before, every fix to the PAK Map picture will not work with other cams, if they are not coherent. So it has to be changed in all three campaigns, with agreement of Snakeman. There is not a problem in it, but Snakeman (or other on behalf of him) must change priorities, and upgrade town and or villages where necessary to create the base for the fix.
I could make my job when that three cams fixing it is made

Hi Closter. Yeah the v0.4 changelog still says that PAK map is missing the image and indeed I cannot find any TGA files for PAK, I guess I never downloaded that from you.
Could you please rar the TGA's up and email them to me (you'll find my email in my profile) and I'll then make sure the PAK will be added to v0.5. Thanks
