Here's the catch, I'm fully busy trying to convert old stations.dat file to make them coherent with ILS and Tower stations with OF
That's my priority at the moment and I'm working on the ODS stations file.
It will be a while before I'm ready to work on Iran so I guess it would be great if someone made the initial research to see which airbases really need to be implemented and which need to be deleted.
Once the list has been reduced I can start working on getting the correct radionav data for those selected airbases
If I can, I'd send my take on airbase work:
There are way too many airbases automatically generated in terrain initially. I found out during my past work that all civvies, military, abandonned military and even the smallest airstrip to land an ultralight on are generated.
In Europe or ODS, I deleted almost 300-400 airports each.
So please decrease the number drastically. We would just need all major civil airports and military airbases and a few airstrips.

See, that's about 25 airports and IMHO more than enough. We might need to add a few civvies (although most military shares runway with civilian airport) and a few airstrips as well.
Those above we can probably get runway orientation, runway elevation, etc etc then radionavigation data on like Tacan or VORDME or VOR or NDB frequencies and range, tower frequencies and ILS freqs?
Although I doubt we will find a lot of tacan or VorDme but probably more NDB which is a problem since it's not really implemented in F4
With that information we can make the iran terrain airbases closer to the reality by aligning the airbases with the airbases type we have available in F4 and assign radionavigation element by working on the stations.dat file

For instance, Bandar abbas is a 03/21 Right/left runway
Closest we have in F4 would be a 03/21 single runway or a 05/23 L/R double runway (from memory)
Runway lenght irl is 12008 and 11341 feet but that's not important to us at the moment
Tacan is 078X and there's even a VorDme offset the field on 119x
Tower is 118.1
Field elev is 22feet
I know there's at least one ILS there but don't know the frequency yet.
Finally, I would suggest we check the airbases already implemented in ODS and afghanistan if they are redundant on IRAN and make sure we use the same settings.
I just checked ODS and afghanistan and we already have quite a lot of airbases redundant. So I would like to keep those, and see what are the ones we need to add.
