Re: Iceland with CATE
cool shots!
the one question is, with that enhanced elevation, the ridge line seems too prominent! I prefer real scale, or "slightly" enhanced elevation.

Go in terrain forum and read the "ReadL2 util" thread (ReadL2 was the first name of CATE).quote:Originally posted by icebrain:

Re: Iceland with CATE
thnx.. yup egroups are great..
(so I don't raise my hand.. )
I used 5 Randtilerules over this
L2 making the avarage terrain not higher
but alot steeper at some parts
on other part a bit more rugged.
still have to try the other rules.
1.2 has many elements yet to test and
to finetune wich values to use.
great stuff..

Is it me or is the resolution on the elevation in these pics much higher (ie, elevation data is closer together)?

yup iceland uses 250 meter tiles whilst standard Korea and all other theaters use 1000 meter tiles.
so yup the resolution is up 4 times

Nice... but does that mean the theater is 1/4 the size of the others? How hard would it be to convert a theater to 250m tiles (imagine desert southwest/Grand Canyon... hehehe)?quote:Originally posted by Widowmaker:

it uses a 256 segment map instead of 64
As for a conversion.. no this cannot be done
you need to start from scratch to get it hires
