Re: FF5 HOTFIX is out!
Thanks for reporting derStef.
Quite strange commentary, "this sim is old, don't push buttons too quickly" eh what the hell?

The FF5 Hot Fix is here. This upgrade contains a new .exe file, that has greatly increased stability. This new .exe also has the added Greyscale for TGP and WPN MFD. We have also included a UI fix that will add +/- buttons to zoom in and out of the maps for people without the mouse scroll buttons (all three theaters). We fixed the comms chat windows to be stretched longer so you can see everyones name in the chat window (all three theaters), and fixed the PAK map so the correct buttons are not reversed (all three theaters).
This is not FF5.1.
FF5.1 is still in the making. We have spent 100's of hours looking at the data base in order to move Falcon forward. It is clear to us that the future of Falcon lies in it's campaign engine and we are building upon our knowledge base and fixing our current files in order to make this happen. We have 10 years of accumalative errors in our DB and we need to clean those up. Over the years we have added so many new features, that our db was not not keeping up.
You have seen the screen shots of Nightfalcons airbase work. He is not finished with that work and I want it in FF5.1 There are additional items for 5.1 as well, but we did not want for you to not have the latest in stability, while you wait on these aditional improvements.
We have looked at all the crashlogs posted and logs that point to an obvious error in the code, have been fixed. Logs that point to a "possible" problem in the code, and are repeatble in other logs, have been noted. They have not been addressed for fear that code changes have a bad habit of breaking good things. This .exe is stable, get it now. Our suggestion is that you fly FF5 as close to vanilla is possible. We are now dealing with entirely too many variables in hardware, software, add-ons and custom user defined settings. The majority of the crash logs indicate a single user issue. You can call them glitches, hiccups, anomalies, UFO's, whatever you wish. You should make changes to your installs carefully, and you should move around in the UI carefully. There is a lot of code being read, items being rendered, files being loaded, and unloaded, very quickly. This game is 10 years old, in human years that makes it about 50. When navigating the UI, selecting choices and especially when exiting a mission, show it some respect and allow it to finish.
Some are going to ask if this .exe has better MP. I don't know for sure, but I think, yes. Our BETA Pilots have a pretty good MP experience with 4 or more players having a good time. They also have taken the time to figure it and get good at setting it up. That is hader than dissing a product because you can't get it to work for you....in 10 minutes.

Re: FF5 HOTFIX is out!
Sometimes I feel the same, when I get CTD or black screen.
But, Going in and out 3d without leaving the same TE's tactical screen, and when exiting, getting a black screen is a reproducable bug. It happens, even if you click it slow or fast (Talking for OF, possibly true with FF too. Someone may check).
