Re: Iceland10
Excellent. Obviously you want cold war style campaign..Red storm rising?
Now your theater will face similar problems like Falkland.
1. need carrier operation. No matter invading Russian carrier/amphibious group or reinforcing allied NATO carrier groups, people will ask for that. For now you can treat it like Vnam campaign.
2. need more 3d models, or activate hidden ones.
3.inevitably you have to add fictional island(s) and airbase on NE corner, for operating Russian heavy bombers. What toys you want? Tu22 or Tu160? BTW, Su24 could reach there if take-off from acquired Norway bases.
4. ASuW weapons, too bad RPG still cant make Harpoon work for the time being.
5. functional shipborne weapons.
ya, situation is not so bad as i mentioned, you cant expect what new dicoveries revealed in next few days!
Say, I'll fire up Harpoon97 to find some ideas...incoming bombers and kingfishes, SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE!!

Re: Iceland10
Well first of all I need EF2000 Typhoon
To fight along F16
Rafale, Mirage2000 (SaabViggen/Grippen).
JSF/F22
Sure bombers you mentioned would be cool.
No hurry whatsoever, patience is a good thing

Re: Iceland10
Rough EF2000 model could be done in short time. but i heard European 3d modeler want build it themselves, in much better details. BTW RPG said they wont support new FM and related files until convincible data available. so adding F22/Rafale/JSF appears tricky.quote:Originally posted by Widowmaker:

Dont worry, we'll closely monitor any progress in this field. For now flying F15/16 against Su27(33)/Mig29(k) from fictional carrier will do.

Re: Iceland10
Just wanted to say that we, some of the 87th guys are looking into the possibilty of making a northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and Kola scenario. Right now we are checking if we can raise the resources, and Tazz is helping out on the initial thing. If this goes we'll coordinate with the other projects. Iceland, Europe and others ?

Re: Iceland10
From a realitic point of view, you're almost there except for the Swedish AF aircraft.
You have F-16's and F-5's for Norway, F/A-18's for Finland but no Saab Viggens or Gripens for Sweden.
Also submarines and carrier operations would be excellent for this theater!

Re: Iceland10
Glad to hear Norway-Kola penisula theater is brewing.
will check Draken, Viggen and Gripen soon.
BTW, I'd like to say it again, with latest autotiling tools, new theater could be tiled in minutes, with much better looking.(though you still need hand-tiling or fine-tuning some details)
So, the first step is processing basic theater data. Tazz, we know you encounter some problem, Hope Widowmaker could lead you thru that, or Wait few days, after Snake Man releasing Vnam beta3, he'd help you out there

Re: Iceland10
This and the Iceland theater really should have the Tu-22 and Tu-160 models! And a working model of the Kiev would be really awesome!
CCC: well most of the problems were solved but now I have problems with the Globe server. See the European Map problem thread for info. I appreciate all the help though

When I first got into terrain business I checked that area and noticed that it most certain needs larger area than default 64 segment in Korea. Is this the case in your planned theater too?quote:Originally posted by 87th_striker:

Re: Iceland10
I helped Striker with creating a 10x10 segment out of a way larger map spanning Norway, Sweden and Finland. I couldn't even get the whole of Norway in there. Just about 60 - 70 % of Norway with part of Sweden.
Is it just me, or is the korean area so super small??

Norway isn't very big, but its long. More than 2000 km from south to north.
If a Nordic theater is realized, i would love to see the Norwegian Adapted Surface to Air Missile System (NASAMS). It's Basically a ground based version of the AMRAAM.

Re: Iceland10
We got some hands on on the NASAAM system. It has corrupted many NATO execercises lately. NATO run into problems when they don't rule the sky. So they had to turn NASAAM off to get things running as planned. I guess the new russian systems are equally good. None of these system were operational in Kosovo. Tazz, could you show the jpg on Nordic theater here somewhere ?
