Sea Power Naval Combat in the Missile Age website by PMC

Post by Snake Man »

Created new website for Sea Power Naval Combat in the Missile Age, this cold war era naval warfare wargame is from lead developer of Cold Waters and from Microprose (wow that is a blast from the past). In these days you cant be sure what to get from a new game, but I sure hope this game delivers excellent naval warfare.

Looking forward to add more data into that website once the wargame is released.

Forgot to post previously, now pretty much all the information has been gathered from online sources and the new pages created.

Sea Power website by PMC has been updated, just now in fact added two more time compression speed values I discovered last night from one source.

Since my previous post in this topic, there has been tons of new Sea Power pages created, check them out. Oh right, HTML CSS design is still well basically not done, its 100% viewport with 100% image pixel size relating to its 4k source, so website now kind of feels IN YOUR FACE suffocating dunno how to describe, I'll try to get the width narrowed down a bit to more natural look and find some sort of compromise for the image sizes without going to the thumbnail with full size image opening to a new tab method I've been using.

Also linked several pages to the brand new Naval Warfare website for reference.

Sea Power website by PMC has now been fixed for the page width and image sizes, now its much more enjoyable to read with 50% smaller (scaling, fancy stuff) image sizes. Also added The Mighty Jingles youtube channel link which I forgot earlier, sorry about that.

I am still watching few more Stealth17Gaming's videos for the second time to conclude my Sea Power video marathon to study, learn and document stuff, but I feel like everything that can be learned from those videos have now been covered, well at least the most important parts. Now it seems that I've reached end of the road in this pre-release news hysteria and website developing, next step is to actually get my hands on the game on release day in november 2024, then I get to experience first hand everything I want to learn and document further.

Its funny how satisfied it feels that I now already have such a "great website" up and running before the game (or is it simulation? hoh) is even released.

And nope I have no fear that this Sea Power nov 2024 early access would suck because how would I know as I've not played it myself, well after watching those youtube videos from preview builds (from "Stable #35" to what was it in Wolfpack345's latest video, "Stable #60" I think), even if there are NO improvements for the nov early access release, I'm still going to have SO MUCH FUN with that game when I get to play it. I have not seen anything in those youtube videos which would make me think "nah not for me", sure there are some parts which could use improvement but man, Sea Power rulez if the early access version is just like seen on these dozens of videos so far and not to mention if its better as there are still a few weeks time to develop :)

Aanyways, what am I doing some kind of preview build review here I just meant to update everyone about web page edits :P

After wrapping up that CSS web page editing I did daily check on Sea Power news, well I saw this developer news post.

Sea Power early access release date announced, its Nov 12th 2024 !

Uh oh!? :o

Its the same day as Farming Simulator 25 release! :(

Oh noooo! :(

How the hell do I choose which one to play now? :(

In my gaming life dating back to the 1980s with Commodore C64, I don't ever recall being in situation like this where TWO (2) big game releases happen in the same day, games that I KNOW will take all my time when starting to play those, geez dude, I mean this is kind of hilarious but it does suck, I honestly don't know what to do in situation like this.

First world problems man, first world problems...

Some days ago I contacted Sea Power devs and asked if I could get preview build before early access in nov 12th so I could write more thorough factual web pages and also mission editor tutorial, well yesterday afternoon got a reply, they sent me the game for preview, whoah! :o

Yesterday I played several hours before had to get some sleep, only slept like four and a half hours before waking up, now finished 17hrs stretch and I managed to finish all the US/NATO side single missions except one. Ugh I'm in complete zombi mode now, so exhausted, tired, need to get some rest.

Tomorrow I have to start focusing on documenting some of the stuff I learned, hopefully get to write some new updates to the web page as well. I just need to finish one Farming Simulator 19 HTML web page editing task before that, it was left unfinished when I got Sea Power, so gotta get it finished, or at least somewhat finished.

Anyways just a quick update, who knows maybe I get lost in north atlantic fighting the soviet commies tomorrow too :)

Yesterday played all day and them some, didn't check the minutes but it was definitely over 18hrs straight Sea Power gaming session. Finished playing those default in-game missions, then started to create my own Reuben James ASW operations North Atlantic mission and spend time to study the existing missions. Contacted Martin the lead programmer (I believe he is) and asked about mission files, he confirmed to me how to enable several hidden test/WIP missions in the current build. Checked out all of them just by starting them but didn't actually play any.

Finished that Reuben James mission early version with some soviet commie scum submarines, then play tested it a bit, last part of the day were spend sub hunting, man I had a great time. Much of my insomnia overtime late last night came because just after killing a November class submarine I was about to call it a night, to get some sleep, I surprisingly got another hit from SSQ-53 sonobuoy, passive contact in the north, okay the hunt is on... ;)

Oh man Sea Power is such an awesome game even in this preview build version before early access, I cant imagine where this game goes year or two from now if devs keep putting in the work. Even if the game gets frozen to this state it is now, I could play it for the next 5 years maybe even a decade, its so cool. Ever since the 1990s Janes Fleet Command I've been waiting for naval warfare game like this, well in fall 2024 the wait is finally over, but anyways going offtopic here :)

I should try to get some documenting done today, but my bet is that I just enjoy playing "one more day..." :D

Yesterday was another full day of Sea Power naval warfare. Played my own Reuben James NACV mission all day, tried to complete it but dunno if I got even half way through towards iceland before had to call it a night, don't know how many hours I played but after the mandatory computer morning chores and some Sea Power dev chat, I played all day again so must have been at least 14hrs. But now I'm done playing that mission and I need to focus on more learning and documentation, getting screenshots and text online instead of just playing.

In fact git console is angrily looking at me on the left side monitor as I'm typing this, there are a big Farming Simulator 19 (FS19) mod category project half way done, I dropped it like a hot potato when I received Sea Power serial key on sunday evening was it. So yeah there is work to be done.

Another full day of Sea Power, documented mission editor, wrote three web pages of basic mission editor tutorial stuff but its not finished yet not even close, there was game update, chatted with devs, actually got one not bug fixed but tweak done for the GUI settings, good stuff. Just finished playing several hours, had my Gaming computers 16gb RAM fill up and Nvidia RTX 3060 12gb GPU VRAM and utilization to max out, I have never seen that before, was pretty wild. Tomorrow I have to debug some more that was that by design, can Sea Power really take that much memory of all sorts.

Yesterday was not a full day of naval combat but well over six hours gaming session playing on the same concept mission as I've played before, north atlantic convoy escort, hunting soviet submarines using oliver hazard perry class and knox class frigates, launching SH-2F sea sprite helicopters to drop AN/SSQ-53 sonobuoys in 15 nautical mile circle areas to listen to passive sonar for any commies lurking by.

Also I got into Sea Power beta development branch, I reported bug in mission editor for "mission name", "mission difficulty" and "mission description" data fields not working, that got fixed within hours, then I confirmed one beta testers graphical user interface tool tip bug report on 4k resolution screens, that got fixed as well. It was quite productive day for Sea Power dev team, those guys are doing amazing job.

Created one brand new mission in persian gulf, strait of hormuz, just a quick shoot'em up, then that new north atlantic convoy mission which basically is just the same Reuben James NACV mission but re-made from scratch with slightly more dense and stronger (quantity) soviet submarines as OPFOR.

In the end my Gaming computer having 16gb RAM and nvidia RTX 3060 12gb GPU had its RAM, VRAM and GPU utilization maxed out, man it was wild to see my system choking like that. It is kind of scary as its now fall of 2024, do I really have to upgrade my Gaming computers RAM to 32gb, do games really require that much memory these days, I have no problem with that, technology must go on and things must improve, but its a major leap forward in gaming universe to think that 16gb RAM is not enough anymore. I am going to run some long mission testing in my editing and surfing computer soon which has lousy GPU but good CPU and 64gb RAM, at least RAM shouldn't be running out then, will be interesting to see how that test turns out, its just that as this computer has nvidia GTX 1060 3gb video card its absolute horror to run any game, well besides Cold Waters or Farming Simulator 19 and perhaps FS22 with low settings.

Today, just woke up and did the mandatory computer morning chores, today is the day when I keep my word to Martin of Triassic Games (lead programmer of Sea Power I believe he is) and get that beginner mission editor tutorial finished, I already wrote three pages was it two days ago, but today I will not do anything else no matter what, until that mission editor tutorial is ready to release, so yeah hours from now there will be a big update on Sea Power website by PMC, today will be a good day :)

Cant wait. Lets get started.

Been playing, learning, documenting, beta testing and creating missions like crazy in the past, err well since I got into the beta of Sea Power.

Dev team announced today that release time will be 2024-11-12T10:00:00Z tomorrow. Sea Power | Upcoming launch tomorrow (steam news).

Actually that gives me time between 2300hrs today to 1000hrs tomorrow to play Farming Simulator 25 (FS25) before Sea Power release, so if lets say FS25 wont even work on my computer then I get to go back to beta testing Sea Power, however if everything works good then I'm going to immerse myself into farming universe for the next at least two weeks, that is my plan, no idea how it turns out. If FS25 works good and Giants Editor v10 will be released within few days (this week for example), well that definitely changes things, I'll immediately jump into FS25 terrain editing and that takes me further away from Sea Power beta testing.

But this is all pointless speculation as what happens... happens, only history will tell the tale ;)
