African Savanna Terrain

Post by Sablerock » 2023-01-10 17:54:27

Guys
We’re bunch of real farmer’s on African savannah.
We would love to play on our own farm lands in fs22.
Before we embark on this arduous trek:
The map will have to be 8x8km to accommodate all.
Pixel=2 x 4096 x 4096=8x8km.
That correct?
The following UNIQUE features:
1. We want African wildlife sounds (some only at night) How many can FS handle?
2. We want African wildlife roaming in background.
Which XML file handle this? (We understand animated animals must be created).
3. How many background animals can FS handle?
4. Can one specify Southern Hemisphere seasons?
Planting crops for above?
5. Rainfall in FS purely cosmetic?
6. We want African trees. How are they created and how is it handled in GE?
7. Same with grass. Must reflect our habitat.

Any ideas welcome

8.1km x 8.1km terrain is most often created using 4096 pixel resolution heightmap and 2 meter unitsPerPixel, yes.
1. We want African wildlife sounds (some only at night) How many can FS handle?

I believe there was some "wildlife spawner", would have to look it up for reference.
3. How many background animals can FS handle?
Don't know, but number of wildlife animals should not be a problem.
4. Can one specify Southern Hemisphere seasons?
Planting crops for above?
Yes these are called GEO's for the FS19 Seasons mod, work apparently more or less the same in FS22.
5. Rainfall in FS purely cosmetic?
Rain does not cause mud, or other slippery surface, so yes in that sense rain is cosmetic. Snow fall will after a while generate snow cover on the ground.

In FS19 Seasons mod rain does make soil and crops wet, you cannot harvest when soil / crops are wet. In FS22 I believe it just reduced yield or something.

But yes in common sense terms; farmsim rain is cosmetic, which is a shame.
6. We want African trees. How are they created and how is it handled in GE?
7. Same with grass. Must reflect our habitat.
Trees are quite complex to create, have to know 3D modeling software and GIMP texturing, normal maps, shaders and such. There are some FS17, FS19 ported african trees in some FS22 terrain, not sure.

Grass is easier as its basically just a simple texture change if you can use the same grass model from mapUS or mapFR data dirs.

Many thanks for prompt reply.
I can’t find any mod’s on African wildlife.
Also, no tree mods.
Any luck your side?
We’re willing to donate towards the development of these mods.

Who can help us?
