Are you saying all objects have been placed for farm yards?

Most of them are yea, I only placed 5 at the moment.

Good job :)

Its a big workload to place objects on many farm yards plus then all the vegetation around the area which of course depends on the area how thick forests / tree lines there are.

Can you tell us about the sounds editing, I technically know how to do it, sounds.xml in text editor and sounds.i3d in GE moving those transformgroup audio thingies around, but as you have actual experience doing it... please tell us how it was overall, I'd love to hear?

For example, have you found the annoying raven bird sound which globally is applied to all terrains and sounds like its coming from "left high" like the bird is on the air, its kind of same as in FS19 dog is barking in the middle of the field etc. I really want to destroy that top-left-raven sound it drives me crazy ;)

I tend to downmix things to mono unless I am playing something like a fps game, but from what I could tell it all depends on where you are verse, where the player is for that type of thing. I've done some small water effects and a waterfall sound up and down the river, I put the waterfall sounds, where the low head dam is. I do plan on shrinking the radius of them a bit as they seem to stretch out a little bit. I grabbed the sounds from the data folder linking to

Code: Select all

$data/sounds/maps/shared/environment/riverLoopB2.wav
I was thinking it may speed things up a bit and keep the file size down. I just ctrl+b it up and down the river. I am still fiddling around with it and learning myself as I normally never really added sounds to my previous fs19 maps.

Splined the utility poles and placed some welcome signs around the map today.
Image

I also started of the details today as well.

I started placing super big decor bushes around the map. I also reached out to Trailer Park Farms to see if his group were interested in testing it. I just have finish the bushes around the trees then add some meadow weeds along the road side. The map is around 95-98% completed. I decided not to do a 1:1 of the town although it is a small town.

I may end up placing one more main road on the bottom side of the map I haven't checked yet but most of this area is gravel based roads that the google car never drove down.

Hmm something went wrong with the utility pole wires, why are they wonky like that?

Strangely enough how they came packaged I will most likely end up redoing them in the future using a different pole/wire setup.

Umm so you didn't use Utility Poles with Wires Tutorial?

Wasn't sure if the scripts worked still, ran into a few mess ups cause of older scripts before so. I can always redo the lines on a later date, at least the poles are in.

I may also switch up the bridge as well, I've seen some decent ones that are actual road brides and not rail bridges.

Been quiet lately, doing a few test harvests and flattening on some spots on some of the fields for the sake of farmsim.

I ended up cutting this one and fully raking everything. Map is like 99% done just need to dig some ditches and blend the roads a bit better.

Small update

I've hit up Ola Haldor to redo my field dimensions with Houdini to trim down the amount of corners I had on my map. This was done successfully and fairly quick since I already had my old field dimensions by bitmap file.
Image

I still have to fix some of the fields that messed up some, because the center of the fields aren't seen from all angles causing the small amount of jankyness.

I also redid all of the water fields in blender. I am planning on redoing all of the roads via street spline constructor, then finish with the details and some small amount of buildings since I am going to leave blank land for people that prefer to make their own farm layouts.

Hmm is it because those "arrow alike" field definition corner piece shapes, they like point to the center and several meet there?

Can you please post a screenshot of field centers disappearing, would be interesting to see.

Hmm if you already use blender for some other parts, why not do roads using it?

The field centers don't disappear, but that is also a part of the small bug that needs to be fixed on some fields. I was speaking to Ola a few days ago, and he map also deals with that weird overlap problem. In essence you break the field into "parts" and overlap them slightly. I would love to show the video he recorded for me on how he fixes those fields, but that is his content. I could however record of a video of me fixing it if I remember.

For those wondering, here is how you fix the issues that the center of the field isn't always seen.

Image
Image

You break it into separate parts with leaving the last two cloned in the new transform with the samename_fix, and make sure the transform group is where you want it to be. I am currently working on one of my most interesting and largest fields on the map currently. I am thinking I have to break it into four different parts.

This is still easier, and more optimized then doing it one at a time, or using fields by bitmaping it.

You need to provide more information, more context, think of it as step by step telling a story to people who have never even heard of what you're talking about.
