Entry 1:

I will keep updating this thread.

As always, VTE is proud to present -own-made-exlusive work, which
you will just find in the VTE mod.
This time its the exotic EX-41 grenade launcher, which is refered
as being better than the M79.

Its a cold night, thick grass surrounding me, and I'm lying there,
waiting for any movement.
My M79 was just replaced with a EX 41 and I never touched it before
this mission.
As these thoughts crossed my mind, a VC suddenly appeared.
He held a grenade launcher in his hands, and -what a surprise, it seemed to be the M79
I lost during the last trip.
He was first to fire a shot because I was still shocked. He aimed and fired a HE grenade
at me, but he did miss.
I don't know why, but now I had an advantage because I still had a round in the chamber.
So I aimed it up, compensated the level of height with the distance to the enemy and
pulled the trigger.
I hit him and he returned injured to his Comrads, which got all hit with the next HE grenade
afterwards.
Next morning we made these fotos, posing with our new toy, the EX 41.

I never forget how jealous the Comrads form the Army were.

A little insight...

As we like to keep our development progress
clean and transparent, this is a "Behind the scenes"
Blog entry today.

Making of the OTO Melara Mod 56, which found use in the Vietnam war.

Mind Map

Before we know what to model, we first got to find out,
whats really suited for the mod.
This isn't an easy progress, as we also got to take into
account, that the certain object could be already made
by someone else, where it would have been easier to just
ask for permission.
After we found no addons containing our targeted object,
we start with the task assign, which basically means : Who makes what
(Which is the easiest of the mentioned yet)
[Mostly a few hours]

Modeling
Our focus aren't high poly quality models, but middle-class addons
caught our attention.
This means, the addon is not a too heavy strike for the performance,
but also looks somewhat good.
Some people called the mod "OFP Mod" in the past, but slowly
we're losing this image, taking the amount of own work we've made
especially during the last year into account.

Image

Stage 1 (nowhere near being finished, the ground model, rendered in Maya)
Stage 2 (A few minutes later that middle part is way more satisfied)

Image
[1-3 days]

Last steps
After our model is done modeled and textured, we
send it to Snake Man, who implies it into the main config.
Then its ready.

[1-3 days]

We're making good progress right now, and there is not holding back.

Blog Entry 3.

Blood, Sweat and Tears

I've been in the jungle again. But not to use my EX 41 this time, no, today
we got the task to search the corpses of the enemy.
Yeah, you've heard right, the action is already over before it started (for us). Still thats not
neccessarily a bad thing, because I rather fire not a single shot to occupy the enemy than being under fire while
trying to archive the same.
Now I tell you what made our day easier and might have saved our life: The Artillery!
And not just some Artillery, this time our guys are strapped with some light OTO Melara Mod 56 cannons,
suited for close to medium distances.

I show you a couple of pictures of my lifesaver:

Next day in the jungle.

To be honest. The Melara just didn't throw enough junk at the enemy.
I mean, they were still able to retreat.
Thats why we called in the big "budgies", the M107

Image

Image

We've heard that the manufacturer didn't complete them yet,
but even at that early stage, they throw a lot of crap at the enemy.
Iiiinncommming!

You won't believe what I've seen in the jungle today.

Fotos of it in the jungle now passed through intel

Update-VTE listens to the people

Who said VTE does not listen to the members?

Thanks to Uglyboy's request list we have accurately
modeled the BTR 50 in an early version, which is going to come in various versions.
So thanks to Uglyboy people can play with the BTR 50 from now on.

Here are the Intel pictures:

Here a look of it in ArmA 2's O2

The BTR model is the one i'm proud most of, yet it took me nearly no time

I'm writing this from my bed, but I wanted to tell you that:

The following new vehicles will feature an interior:

BTR 50

Bm8 Katyusha (not to a great extent, rudimen.)

The M117 will not feature an interior, I see no point in that, should
put the ressources on interior where its really needed.

Nice PPsh model. I think the barrel should be a smidge longer, but it might just be because of the way he is holding the weapon though. It's hard to tell with the Marine's hands in the way.

Anyhow, here's a neat pick of the different models of the PPsh-41 sitting next to each other, might come in handy later.

I think the barrel is shorter because it's a K50M a vietnamese modification of the PPsh with a short barrel and other few differences :)

Good post on the www.armaholic.com about the BTR 50. Posts like this will keep people interested and curious about the VTE mod and how it is progressing.

Entry 9

Christmas is over-The Model making not

Watching intel again.
This time its the M110 Self Propelled Artillery.
The differences are a shorter barrel, cover plates, and
a different hatch in this version.

In VTE the M110 Chassis does also feature a better texture than the M109
model which has got the same chassis.

Entry 10

Artillery is fine-until they wanna get mine!

Its true-there had been a little idling on the projects but we're back!
Believe me when I say the road to release is not too far away-the most of it is already over.

M114 Artillery
Watching intel. We received a new piece of artillery yesterday, the M114. In my intel paper it appears white
but in reality its fully textured already. Hooah.

Helicopter

Yes. A little side project I was working on. Now we are close to have another, VTE exclusive helicopter:

The HH43. Truly a beast in mini format.

VTE. The only real 'Nam mod in the ArmA2 world.

Today I've made something I am quite proud of.
The SU-76 tank!

Image

Model + Texture: Less than a day work time!

Image

Image

Originally I only wanted to make a base texture to see how its going to look like, but then I advanced the base colour more
and more until I had finished the job alone. Since SnakeMan wanted to texture it to learn "how to make better textures", I'll make him another model he can train on soon.
