PMC Rugen campaigns - testing now

PMC Rugen campaigns test 1 for ArmA 2

This is our two campaigns for this terrain which have been ported from OFP to ArmA 2 (notice there was no ArmA port in between). These are now in the state of development where they play without scripting errors (read below) and only need thorough play testing to see if everything runs fine in ArmA 2 engine.

PMC Heros Path

Straight port, most if not all missions still use SQS scripts and there most likely will be severe game play imbalance because of CoC Unified Artillery and Cruise Missiles are missing. CoC Mines setup is also replaced by dummy mines which if I recall correctly, wont even explode in this initial version.

All missions start up without errors and seem to run good.

Reference: OFP PMC Heros Path release topic.

PMC Tank Hunter

Is fully ported into SQF script format with all scripts if not totally rewritten, then massively enhanced to work as SQF format. Fear is that some of the more complex scripts have lost their finer detail functionality because of the very difficult sqs "goto" spaghetti conversion to nice function style sqf scripts. While there is no scripting errors at all, its not certain that we have the same functionality as in OFP.

Lot of work has been put into this to make sure it runs great and uses all new ArmA 2 features, however we have not changed the core of the campaign because this is a port not an sequel by any means, we don't want to get carried away adding stuff just because we can. However we have added new ArmA 2 units, vehicles and weapons.

It have been play tested quite good, but due the massive complexity of this campaign and time it takes to test it, we have mostly scratched the surface and more testing would be required.

Summary

These campaigns are fully playable, I would say that they work better than most of the garbage community seen put out in recent times, but due the lack of play testing so far, I don't want to release them as publicly yet to news sites. News sites or similar; please don't mirror or post news about these yet unless you just link to this topic, thanks. As with other PMC releases in recent times, if no feedback is provided, this is as far as these campaigns go. In future I'll be testing them by myself but when and if that happens, it totally different matter.

Install

Comes nicely in the directory structure like the terrain itself, just put this on the same mod dir and the "campaigns" sub dir drops in-place nicely and you can start ArmA 2 with normal -mod line with PMC Rugen as you used to. Basically what you need to have is "pmc_rugen\campaigns\" directory where these two campaign pbo's need to be placed.

Hello mate

Currently playing through collecting my pistols all good fun, very well done, I have one question however, how much effort would it require to make this coop as well as SP?,I only ask as as fun as it is being rogue and doing your thing to the russians all alone and i get the personal satisfaction that your doing this alone, however it can get a little lonely wondering across vast planes alone.

Thanks

Hmm MP COOP... if you want to play this on MP with me, I'm willing to try to make MP version out of it :)

What I mean by "try" is that I can do MP missions no problem, but PMC Tank Hunter campaign is quite OFP "sqs spaghetti" scripting and making it fully working in MP might be difficult without almost total rewrite. Then also there is the issue of how ArmA 2 will handle MP campaigns, the saveVar and other stuff, I read some reports from users that these features aren't working so good.

But, I like the idea and will check out how much trouble it would be to accomplish.

Yeah figured as much, it could be more effort than its worth, but ofc up for doing it if its done, currently going through both campaigns, all badass , not sure if its just me but has an ofp feel to them :)

ps, loved a bit in the first mission , going back to base and this mi lands right infront of the main road to the base, swerving and all sorts to miss it!
