Lat, Lon and sea tide

Post by klavan » 2006-03-27 10:25:41

I'm wandering if and how Lat and Lon values can influence the sea tide.
I mean: if i'm creating an inland map (no sea shores, let's say for example a map of Austria) can i expect no variations of the sea level by adding proper Latitude and Longitude values?
I didn't make any attempt by now and i decided to ask first, just to avoid wasting time with useless experiments.
Thanks

I just realized that I dont have any facts to back this up... but tide is the same whatever your lat/lon configuration says. If you have any facts, feel free to share with us.

Lat -31 and Lon +46. Iraq, deep inland.
Well, i've tried and....... :-/
Not sure if i've choosed the right moments (January 16th 12.30 am and June 16th 12.30 am), btw there's a difference of 3-4 meters in the water level.
Maybe it's reduced?
But it's only a wish, i know.......

What is the min ground level before hitting water?
I'm trying to add dry riverbeds and it seems that they are effected by the sea tides.

Thanks

If you never want ground to sunk underwater, make it 6m or higher. I think 5.1 is enough too, but it doesnt really matter, make it six and youre fine.

I'll set a few test starting at 3.0 and work my way up after the weekend.
So far none of the people testing my map on MP said anything about the little lakes popping up and then disappearing.

No need to test, if you want to be sure, make it 6m.
