object failure

Post by Smiley21vb » 2004-10-05 23:47:53

I don't know if there is another topic like this...

but my problem is that I have used an object from the seb_nam addon in Wrptool.0.950....and after a while i found the same object in bas.o and replased it. (bas.o object works better i ofp )....

so now i dont have the use for the seb_nam addon (no items on the map from this addon ) but when I load my island in the wrptool I get an error that it cant find the seb_nam object.

It is not supposed to find it because it is not on the map.
If I put a seb_nam object on the island, all i okay again, but I want to cut it away.

What do I do?

Lets assume you have made SEB NAM Pack category to the objects.xml, now load up your island and look in the object browser if there is value (0) after the SEB category. If its above zero, you still have some SEB object left at the wrp.

If you dont have SEB category, then look for the SEB object from "Unknown" or other possible categories where you had them placed earlier.

What I'm trying to say is that if OFP says it needs sebnam_obj<insert>.p3d then you still have some leftover SEB NAM Pack object in your island.

Good luck hunting that object down.

I don't get the error in OFP, only when I load my island in the wrptool

Error loading sebnam_objsebles_su_ctver_pruhozi.p3d

The sebnam_objsebles_su_ctver_pruhozi.p3d does not show in the object browser.

If I put one on the island, the error don't show, but if I delete the obj. the error comes again

One can verify if an object is present or not, by scanning the wrp file by the search function from a text program or a hex editor for a known object string part (seb_ etc.)

Are you reporting a bug that WrpTool is NOT displaying the SEB object in object browser, but it is still on the wrp file?

If an automated search returns, the related object is present, then one can be sure, that the chance is high, having overseen something in the objects lists.
One could also use the Object Tool to see, if the object is within a selection. But in dependence of the number of used models, one might oversee something as well or setting the selection not to the place where the object is.
If one replaces an object on the map (deleting the old one and placing the new one), by hazardous, one object might be exactly over another one (Visitor obviously likes to do so in some cases and where those objects are not to find at the first glance).

Turning off the 'colored' background may help in locating it as well.

I had the object on the island but deleted it. it is gone from the island, it is gone from the object browser ( all is okay up to here )

After saving the island, and reloading it again, I get the error i refered to earlier. It is when I load the island in my wrptool.

It is like it wants the object back on the map

If your wrp file is not uber secret, can you RAR it up and email to me, I would like to take a look at it myself?

Received the file. Loaded it up with WrpTool v0.950 and there was no SEB files included in the wrp island of yours.

So what ever is causing the problem at your end, is coming from the objects ini/xml files or other configs.

I'd suggest you take backup from your WrpTool directory and re-install brand new version of it, then load up your island with the default WrpTool settings and see if this ghost SEB object still gives you problems (it shouldn't, like it in my case).

Can you post the exact wording of the error message, as well as at what stage during the map loading sequence it appears? Thanks.

Error loading sebnam_objsebles_su_ctver_pruhozi.p3d

Appears when the island is loadet in the wrptool (in the end of the load sequence )

Thanks Snake_man I'll try it  ;)
