ODOL file format

Post by shagpile » 2004-09-14 10:22:44

Is there anywhere I can get the internal file format for ODOL type p3d files? I have the documentation for how 3d models are displayed in MLOD files, but I need the ODOL ones. Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

I am writing an app that displays the 3d models in flashpoint as part of 3rd year compsci, and will contribute in a big way to a standalone replay facility that we are trying to make for VBS (http://www.virtualbattlespace.com). My university does a lot of work in battlefield simulation using VBS and the school has written a large number of flashpoint scripts etc. The problem is, I currently have to open the models in ODOL Explorer and save them as MLOD which I can then display. I have the detailed explanation of how MLOD stores vertices/normals/polygons etc so I have been able to do this, however it is unpractical to convert every single model in flashpoint over to this format prior to display. So at the moment, I have finished an opengl static viewer of MLOD files but before I expand I would like to convert it to ODOL.

MLOD -> ODOL use BIS Binarize 1.1.
ODOL -> MLOD use ODOLex 2.0.

I dont need to convert MLOD to ODOL, can already do this with Binarize, but the reverse process would be handy for my Stellar addon compiler, also the compression data to make my addons smaller after Binarize would also be handy. Thanks
