Big city testing

Big city testing. As some of you might already know I have keen interest on large cities in ArmA, now I wanted to create large city for VTE for some time.

Today, in matter of minutes I made testing pbo for next MP session :)

I made 4 different variations, small city, big city, big city with vegetation and big city with vegetation & erosion. On my amd 2800+, radeon 9800 pro computer using 2500 viewdistance and object detail high, there was some stutter to be detected on the heaviest city. But I'm hopeful more powerful computer runs it smooth.

So now I'm making few MP missions for it for us to run around, then we get to see how it works in MP.

The unofficial, unfinished and only test terrain can be downloaded here, please do not distribute it anywhere, its just for our tonights (and who knows later date) MP session.

The testing went good, we could actually enjoy missions in there. There was no slowdowns on my computer with object detail to lowest and basic 1200m viewdistance. Everything looks good to develop some big cities for some real terrains now.

I walked around it with no one playing and my fps was horrible. as soon as I flew a chopper to the outmost parts of the map, everything went back to normal.

What was your viewdistance?
What was your object detail settings (and other settings)?

Minimum 500! This HD card has a hell of a time coping with cities in ARMA. Got 2 gigs of RAM, 2400HD ATI, 3.4 ghz-jeeeesh.
