Realism or not

Post by David » 2008-04-14 16:28:12

Hello!
I've got a decision to fell, its quiete important for the weapons. Guess what.
Right, its the rate of fire.

I got normally 40 FPS so the weapons need 4-5 seconds to empty an magazine.(30 magazine)
But a real gun (just) needs 1,5-2 seconds to fill out an 30 bullet magazine with space.
So what should i do,

Let the rate of fire in the way we have it yet (4 seconds) or make it real with ca. 2 seconds?

Although it seems to be very popular to have realism you must remember that the AI soldiers enjoy firing on fully automatic.

Having a mag vanich in seconds will cause "out of ammo" messages way too quickly.

I know a lot of people just put a bunch of enemy in the editor and have a firefight with them and that's fine. If you want armed soldiers throughout a mission however, you'll need to make the ammo last longer.

If you go ahead with the realistic rate of fire and insist on having crazy dispersion, your guy's amm won't last long.

Is it not possible to add more slots for ammo?
They train young men to drop fire on people. But their commanders won't allow them to write "Fuck" on their airplanes because it's obscene!

The AI works fine and don't need too much rounds to kill someone
