Heya's,

I had a go at getting the bouncing betty ingame.

Well to be honest i did'nt have alot of luck.

Problem 1 -

I have never tried to cfg up a mine before. :?

Problem2 -

when i try to "put" it on the ground ingame nothing appears :?

Problem 3 -

It says it's missing texture bouncingbetty.paa but it is inthe pbo in the same folder.I have tried putting the texture in a folder called textures but to no avail.

Do i need to be making a folder inside the pbo called models or textures?
Once i have put the bbetyy on the ground (though invisible it seems) it wont say in my gear that i have 1 less on my inventory :?
So i did give it a go but it may take someone with more experiance with mines to get this ingame.

I dont give up that easy but if left up to me alone it may take awhile...too long prolly, i wanna see it and use it ingame too goddamnit!. lol

I think its a job for Snake man.

Snake man, do have any experiance with mines m8?

To get it working like it should, is difficult... meaning that it spreads the shrapnel and such and most importantly explodes when soldier steps on it.

I think its time to take a sneak peak to the already released claymores and even the old legendary CoC Mines pack.

What about other mines, I think we need to have 1 good mine for US and NVA forces, are NeF/Daytripper be able to model one more mine?

No problem for other mines I can work on it!

In my BBetty there is no lod maybe that's the problem ?

If I get time around today before tonights MP sessions, I'll try to add few touches to the betty, config and bring it ingame.

Have you edited it since the download was made available?

So guys how about modeling the claymore and then some stuff for the NVA too: POMZ which I think NeF already has covered?

Lol you're a tricky VC NeF !!

I think that the explosive texture should be a little more darker maybe.

+1 frantz, but it's a brand new mine
I think they are issued with more light colors (like on this yugoslav variant) that when we see then in picture taken mostly by demining teams, when the thing has rusted in jungle for years
btw, If I'm a tricky vc, look at the nade with pin off just waiting for someone to take out the mine, lever will be relased.. unsound methods..

These all look great.Excellent work dudes.

There are so many little things that could be made over time that would increase game immersion.

It makes me very happy to see that there are a few ppl learning about this side of modding and are Vietnam Era enthusiasts.

:D :D :D

Excellent work Day Tripper and NeF. Its very refreshing to see someone actually get off their asses and do something, instead posting that we want this we want that, its truly great to see this initiative from you guys. I'm also sure its great learning experience and let me tell you... when you first play a mission online with your friends and come across mine made by you and someone comments "hey cool mine!" or otherwise gets excited about it... all the work pays off right at that moment.

Anyways guys, please keep nagging to me about making the config and bringing them ingame ASAP, we definitely want to have these mines to the next release.

anzacsas and Snake Man thanks for your word :D

next time I will make something more difficult to improve myself. The hardest part is texturing, I had some troubles with that. I need to follow some tutorials about photoshop or gimp.
I'd like learning about config but I really don't know where to start

Please post those helpful texturing tutorials here too.

Yeah config stuff is indeed indepth. Maybe if you join to VTE irc channel I can help you step by step there.

Some of the problem you have was generated because there is no LandContact LOD on model. About texture missing I don't know maybe a texture path error

Heya's,

I'll post the mine's cfg setup (or what i've done so far anyway) so that it others can take a look and have a crack at it. And to try it for your self aswell.

8-) We are getting close guys.. Snake managed to bring it ingame but atm it has only a basic BIS ATmine config so we cant choose the angle of the wire and it works only against tanks but I hope somebody will fix it soon. Anyway I'm glad to show you the ingame result :}

My new version of Bouncing Betty is done.
Download http://www.webalice.it/brazofora/BouncingBetty.rar

I had 4 different resolution lods, geometry and geometryFire lods, HitContact lods and texture. If someone wants test it or explain me how to do I'm happy to learn.

I'll add the bouncing betty to the new VTE mine config and binarize it so you guys can fiddle with it ingame. Perhaps we can setup a trigger so it works as anti personnel mine so some real mission testing can be done.

Keep bugging me about this if no PBO shows up :)

lol, beat me to it .

Daytripper, this bbetty.pbo is setup outside of VTE and is ready to go aslong as can sort the texture problem m8.

http://www.savefile.com/files/1747159

The one i cfg'ed stll dont have any textures on it... :?

I am thinking of a simple freindly way of seting up these mines.Snakeman do you know if a class soldier can bump into a extremely low armored building and blow it up?

I am thinking prolly not but if it could mayb we should be thinking of a class like that.I cannot finf in any BIS cfg where we may beable to set the mines to be activated by class Man and not class Tank etc.

Hmmm.... nothing a few days of testing and trying wouldn't sort out

Triggers are the best solution, now with ArmA scripting capabilities as we can create the triggers and attach to an object, its no problem at all. We just place one mine with init line for the script, then copy paste it around as much we please.

New stuff for vc and for Gi too this time..
-pomz with 2 wires on each side:
Image
-brand new m49 trip flare
Image
Gonna retexture some little faces..
If anybody has an idea how to make the tripflare (and the 2 mines) work, feel free to try, I can send you all you need. It's making a very bright yellow/white light for 60 secs when triped.
WorkInProgress: whip trap

More very cool mines and traps.Excellent work.
Send over everything m8.You know me m8, i'll have a crack at getting anything going aslong as it is cool as this stuff.

I can almost hear the swoosh sound.
The next step is to see if we can animate these things.

e.g.
getting the longarm of the trap to actually swing across the killzone.
And maybe to get the string to disapper once tripped.
I thin i can put a 1 sec delay on the fuse of the bbety or whatever so we have a split second to hear the trap then see the arm swing out /bbety to spring up at groin height and ten a split second later the fuse ends and its goodbye go-nads or whatever.

Does anybody have any experiance with animations?
