We are looking for modeler and texturer

Pretty much everyone who reads VTE forum already know our track record so I wont be posting screenshots or stuff.

Problem is this, I'm hammering the models (fixing, tweaking, not really adding more details) and fixing/tweaking the config as crazy but there is only 24hrs per day and I have to sleep too. I just don't have enough time to cover all the areas of editing this mod. NO, I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to convey that without anyone helping me, its taking long long time before we get stable beta/release candidate out and even then, the models are "as is" they are now, I can only fix and tweak not create new content.

So VTE is now looking for a modeler and texturer, meaning someone who can make supa dupe high poly model which have proper resolution LODs for high performance and texturer who can create textures from sources/etc and apply them to the existing models.

It doesn't really matter to me how elite skilled the persons willing to help are, we even have tutorials for new guys and such, maybe there is some expert Photoshop guy who have zero information about Texview2 usage and such, we can integrate your knowledge so the artwork gets into game easily. Of course it would be quite cool to have someone who knows hes way around O2 and making normal/specular maps without anyone telling him what to do.

So lets see how this turns out. Now I'm back to O2 and config.cpp trying to fix the CH-47 turrets and adding secondary doorgun to it ;)

What kind of models are you looking for?

I mean... pretty much everything? Check the units list on the VTE page and minus there the DC3, M113/ACAV, M14, M16A1, M60 and XM177E1 and we need pretty much everything else. Heh, in one way looking at it :)

For vegetation and other objects, we mostly need textures (normal and specular maps) but yeah sure some model improvements might be in order.

Of course we dont really need all of that stuff, we work the models as we go on, what happens happens. A bit difficult to answer such question.

I could ask my friend if he would like to work on some models. He is almost done with his college degree for 3D modeling and game design. Actually going to a lan with him this weekend so I will mention something.

As far as textures go, I have photoshop but I have a very limited background with it and no knowledge of texture making at all. In my spare time I will try and play around with making textures but no promises.

Yes we still are looking for modeler and texturer so if you can get your friend interested, it would be very helpful. Oh also one carrot in the stick for him, the modeling would not be just for ArmA but for ArmA 2 also as we definitely jump into arma-too in 2008.

So there is long future and usage level for any models anyone is willing to create for us.

I talked to my friend over the weekend. He was slightly interested but said he was busy with actual work and said he had no way to fit in work for the mod. Maybe when the school year is done he will come around. But in the meantime we still need a modeler.

No problem, and like I said maybe this summer when he is done with school and has some free time maybe he will come around. He is a weird guy like that.

Now that pre-alpha 11-23-07 is out, I'd like to remind everyone that I'm the only one editing models and textures for VTE. While I AM getting better, I still suck like .. well yep.

So while I'm already lost any hope that any modeler/textures wants to help, I'll still bump this topic. I would hate to let down Vietnam fans because everything now relys on my skills, so dont get your hopes up guys unless we get some pro help.

Like i said elsewhere you should post this and other stuff where it's more visible, IE the BI forums, you will be more likely to find help there
