Taiwan campaigns for OpenFalcon

In v0.4, campaigns are from RedViper. And because of some objects reference not compatible between OF and RV, these campaigns don't work, we get CTD.

I'm working on some campaigns for OF.

These will be designed in order to be playable online, as 100% of my Falcon activity is online...

A first one will be to be played cooperatively vs IA. This scenario is very very realistic according my sources  .
Here is the work in progress : http://couby.free.fr/taiwan/save0.zip .

I have a small question to campaign specialists. Is it possible to have a tension phase before crisis, i.e. flights generated but countries not at war, just being hostile ?

I made some attempts playing with relations sets. I have flights generated on Taiwan side, but none on China side .
Does someone have a working procedure 100% effective ?

im not a campaign expert.. imho i don't think a tension phase is doable.. well, maybe you can try tweaking tri file like this..

in the begining, china vs US/japan.. Taiwan as neutral, then change relationship > taiwan join US/japan. hehe in this case china will attack japan land first, then back to attack taiwan.

Mmmh, the problem is that it would generate offensive missions, and allow engagements.
Would be interesting in the dynamic sense of the campaign if unwilling engagement and kill would accelerate campaign to crisis.

But I think that I'll have to try some tweaks in the tri field in order to get this. If it is possible of course...

I'm very happy that you found it and it was useful.

It's ok for the status change and war declaration. Yet I still don't have defensive flights generated on one side during the tension phase.
Not enough squadrons or units, or too far from important objectivs ? ... I'll try some tweaks.

After adding some ground air defense units and a try in ace challenge conditions (what give me the air assets ratio I was looking for) I got it :) :!:

I have DCA flights generated on both sides for the tension phase.

Thanks again for your help.

Soon a new release of work in progress.

can you post your TRI file here?

Yep I'll do :).

Yet basically, at the moment, this is just what you find in the wiki (link above).

I said WIP  .

Till there my problem was to have flights generated with war declaration delayed...

One thing after the other ;)...

My objectiv is to focus on an air campaign.

So relatively few ground units, ground campaign, and not really with an invasion approach.
What is exactly what we need for HvsH online campaign where it is important to limit ground units.

For the scenario when I said "very realistic" it was just a wink  . I don't think it will be more than others here, but I think not too far.

More details about the scenario.
The idea is we have tension, crisis (where we enter the campaign) and finaly conflict.
China firing missiles on Taiwan, I simulated this with Scud units (if you see someting better for that, and that we also have in OF).
China air campaign being focused initialy on reducing taiwan air defense capabilities.

So for Taiwan forces here is the main point initially, air defense.

Then later I'd like China invading Ma-Kung, just this island.

Here for taiwan forces, of course, the objectiv will be to destroy ennemy forces on the island.

Just a small question at the moment  .

Do you have any idea on how to make the Scud units an important objectiv for Taiwan forces ? Something like Priority field for standard objectives.

scud units as vehcles, i don't think they can be treated as high priority item in sim. BUT a scud launch field/obj type item can be set as high priority... you may create such an obj, with slots to place scud launchers, for a test.

btw what jet are you using instead of the F-CK-1 which isn't in the DB?
reallife OOB?

by Couby
Instead of the F-CK-1 I put some F-16A&B B15.
Considering it is to be played by humans online.
If you see a better compromise in that sense I'm interested ;).

Here a pic of the air OOB I took as reference, from the french DSI (International Defense & Security) n°34 February 2008.
And their source : IISS 2005-2006, ROC Ministry of National Defense.

I'll try to give more details of my choices and tries step by step. It will be long as I have few time to work on it. But I like it  .

After some reading, F-16 B15 doesn't seem to be a good choice for F-CK-1 replacement. Maybe B30 would be better...
I think I'll replace them.

I tried to set the stores of Magic II for Mirage 2000-5 aircrafts to a non null value. But it doesn't work.

Is there a particular things to do, more than setting it for the concerned squadron ?
Or is it a bug ?

check this out for OOB issues. http://www.taiwanairpower.org
also check out FAS.org... for ground units...

BTW i used the AMX to resemble the F-CK-1.
i only decided for this one to have not SOOOOO many F-16 in the campaign. BUT it makes a good job...
i'm waiting for the day ccc is willing to integrate it! :D

other choices might be: F-18A or F-16A/Cs

cheers

It has to be set via F4Browse. :)

TacEdit set of stores doesn't seem to be functionnal with OF.

just remove the Airtoground ordance form the HPs with f4browse...
you can also set the "sq stores" via F4browse...

BTW are you also editing the Weaponsloadouts for ACs to represent ROCAF RL inventory?

by Couby
Yes I think I'll do that.

Do you have any sources in order to cross check with what I have ?

I mainly have missile inventory information ?

Do you have for bombs ?

Of course I checked  .

I was thinking about the number of stock or order for each type of ammo  .

f-16.net:

"Armament & Stores

ROCAF F-16A block 20 equipped with AIM-9 Sidewinder, AIM-7 Sparrow, plus Sharpshooter targeting and Pathfinder navigation pods

RoCAF F-16s are equipped with AIM-7M Sparrow, AIM-9M & P4 Sidewinder and AGM-65 Maverick missiles. Recently a batch of 120 AIM-120C and also 54 AGM-84 Harpoon missiles were purchased from the USA to complement the existing weapons stock.

Instead of Westinghouse AN/ALQ-131 ECM pods, Taiwan chose the Raytheon AN/ALQ-184(V)7 ECM pods (80 ordered). The contract which includes 80 pods, plus support equipment and spares, represents the first foreign sale of the AN/ALQ-184, and is worth over $100 million."
