better graphic card for Arma2

Post by qawa67 » 2009-12-30 15:58:25

I'm thinking to buy a new graphic card, for to increase Arma2 performance.

I've actually a Gefore 8800 GTS 512... and I'm a bit confused about the better improvement between

Geforce GTX 285 - 1 GB
Radeon HD4890 - 1 GB

what's your suggest ?

I don't know the difference between those two. My setup is here. Hopefully someone can point you to a right direction.

Personally I think (I don't know, so I think) that both of those cards are pretty cool.

I've found this good post about "Arma2 / graphic cards" performance... and yes SnakeMan, seems that both GFX cards are good ! ;)

btw.. those cards should be a big jump in FPS, from my actual 8800 !!! :)

I just upgraded from a 8800GTS 320mb to a 280GTX 1gb and the improvement is just stunning. I stuck with nVidia because I use 3D apps and they're better for OpenGL, but if that's not a concern to you then I guess there's not much to choose between the two models you're looking at. Other than your 285 will work right away with the same drivers as the 8800 uses.
