RV-ITO2 Testing

Currently, we will be using the Snakeman Theater files/folders convention.

The first and foremost goal of testing will be functionality of the campaign to achieve a win-lose-draw without stalling gameplay.

Several additional goals are planned:

1. Upgrade cockpits as they become available.
2. Upgrade terrain (SRTM, complete some of the partial tile sets, create new replacement terrain tiles and add some additional transition tile sets)
3. Upgarde airbases (improve existing airbases, create new airbase layouts complete with new airbase tiles)

Biker is currently working, as time permits, on the campaign side of things. Will post something when I have something from him.

Made some nice progress on integrating the F-4 Phantom 3d cockpit by Qawa. It is still in preliminary stage of development. Also, tried out a beta upgrade of Aeyes' 2d pit . . . when I have it a bit more mature will post something up.

Made nice progress on the Mig-21 and Mig-23. Based on preliminary testing I want to upgrade our current 5 slot Mig-23 to the 7 slot FF4 version. Again, when I have it a bit more mature will post something.

Next up is the Mig-29 3d pit.

Any news ? My question is only motivated because of some specific aircraft in your DB I could use for my ODS project. My goal is to make something available both for RV and OF... I've got skins and ideas but I haven't got the files. When ITO2 for RV will be released then I'll use it to add and permute some skins and rebuild campaigns for ODS.

Qawa and I completed the new 3d pit for the Phantom - - looks decent - not exactly an Aeyes commerical product - but it is free and functional.

Aragorn has done a super job, with permission of course, cleaning up Aeyes old 2d F-4 Phantom dat file.

I have added the pits for both the Israeli and Egyptian phantoms for ITO. I am currently hold a debate with myself whether I will add the rest of the 3d pits for the Phantom upgrade. ITO simply doesn't use all those other Phantoms so it is really a lot of work for very little payoff for the theater.

Sure, I have posted over at the FF Beta - - :P

Some thing I didn't mention was we also bashed some parts from the Sundevil's prototype F-4 3d pit as well.

I will try to put up something later tonight.

Testing revealed that RV defaults to using the Falcon4tree.ocd and Falcon4tree.fed files. These however were not updated and therefore will need to be reworked. For now, we will have to live without trees in ITO.

I have nearly finalized the database content for the public release of ITO2-RV. All the new pits added are working well as are the model upgrades integrated. I plan to add the Phantom 3d cockpits for the remainder of the Phantom variants.

The OCD/FED files will be edited to show some trees - for some airbases at least. Those are easy files to update and and therefore are not critical for the public release (but all like seeing some trees - don't we?)

My goal is to include SRTM as part of the package instead of a separate patch file.

Biker indicates he has fixed the 6-Days War Campaign. He will resume work on the last two campaigns soon. The work on campaign over on Taiwan theater seems to be pointing the way to handle some of the problems that seem to be associated with TCL scripted campaigns. I am going to watch this closely for developments that can benefit Israeli campaigns.

I hope to have a final update on UI files soon.

Installed the latest FF UI this weekend and testing. UI changes are commencing. Will take a couple of weeks to complete then I can resume the rest of the testing. The work list is short now and I hope to have a decent beta perhaps by the end of the month.

I got to tell it is nice to see the light at the end of this long long long tunnel.

Completed all tasks on the conversion for RV/FF5. Some issues remain with the UI and campaign interface but we will address those during the initial phase of beta testing.

Files will be upload this weekend and then an internal beta test conducted by FF Beta team.
