New old 2D toy : Phantom v1.023

Post by Aeyes » 2002-01-30 11:43:00

It is not a drastic upgrade but a good deal of small things do make one bigger thing.

It is ready for SP2 now, but there is still plenty to do before it is final.
Meanwhile go and get it at: http://fly.to/aeyes

He he forgive my picky comments again:

1. nice artwork as usual.
2. the HUD and its frame, seem need some perspective tweak(upper wide, lower narrow?), and moved a bit upward.
3. how about a package installer for SP2, containing all your latest 2d pits?
Doesnt someone want to make such a installer/f4p for you(and all SP2 users)?

advantage: all in one, one click and everything done. follow-on upgrade files could be release seperately, in smaller size.
disadvantage: huge size of package, the surge could ruin your site in seconds...unless you authorize more DL mirrors. i dont mind an 100Mb 2d pit package he he :D

so, what you think? The release of whole 2d pit package sounds another major event in f4 community..all by ONE talented artist. WOOW! maybe you should prepare somekind of manual for preview-release!! LOL :D :D

Thanks and ofcourse forgiven :)

"2. the HUD and its frame, seem need some perspective tweak(upper wide, lower narrow?), and moved a bit upward."

I tried that view and it looked a bit odd, so I made a view in between...

Yeah it has been offered. I want it to be a package per pit, reflections, 3D pit and 2D pit, and maybe even accompanying splash. (Hmmm I forget sounds, might just as well become a F4A add-on then :D )
And separately a F4patch cockpits framework without the files. I don't want to force someone a C-130 down their throat when they just wanna fly a fighter. It will also save download traffic.

One click I like, huge package nono, I never liked that...

Now where is my twin brother or an 8th day in the week? ooops doesn't exist either of them... :D

3D pits my man, how and when and how many and and and...gotta have 'em
Any idea whats up with that part? Btw did you see the 3D cockpit datfile already? Pretty easy moving around of items now like HUD/MFD /DED and so on.

Better visibility, i like it Aeyes. If skypat and paul W can tweak it(wider), so can you.

Only 1 comment. With SP2, isn't it now possible to mmake the 3d externals of each plane visible from inside the cockpit? If so, this would be the preferred method. No?

Aeyes !

Think the pit is great. Those wide view cockpits is for people with neck problems, and they really shouldn't spend to much time in front of a PC ! :D

Just leave it as is, and complete it. Brewskie, Paul W. and Skypat should take more tub-baths. Will ease the tention on their necks !

Striker Out ! ;)

havent checked 3d pit dat yet, no interest in that part. :D

BTW, i think the ring frame in F14 preview could be larger.

I havent tested that part yet, but if every 3D model matches the 3D model we see from the inside looking out it is definetly worth tweaking.
I alway said that I preferred a combination of the graphics quality of 2D and movement of 3D flaps and slats viewable from within the pit. Up to now it was impossible, we always had to deal with the Viper in other planes. Rufus, If you find out more let me know ok? This is an interesting part.
