Invisible Force Field Around Power Plants?

Post by Snake00 » 2002-09-30 12:42:00

In Balance of Power campaign I can not destroy power plants no matter what I use and no matter how much I use. All AI flights have the same problem. Anybody else seen this?

use F4browse to check its damage point, bomb merely scores 5 hit points. others around 25-50.

Hi CCC

As far as I can tell, all power stations have the same problem. I hit one with (4) GBU-24B and my wingy hit it with (2) heavy mavs and (2) GBU-24. It was still at 100%.
After that, a flight of B-52s made a run on it and didn't have any better luck than I did. I'll have to check it out with F4 browse like you suggested.

I think powerplants are designed to be taken out with the CBU-94, which is given an Expl Type of Chemical, and Power Plants were given susceptability to "Chemical" weapons, since that was the only type we could use. I think this is stuff Jerry was working on way back.

It looks like the CBU-94 is only carried by F15E-220 in the SP3 database. Not sure if loadouts for that weapon have been changed for SP4.

Still you should be able to kill them normally... and even the -94 is screwed, cuz it would take a ridiculous number of them right now.

As for aircraft that carry it, the F-16 should be capable too, since the bomb uses the same casing as the CBU-87/89/97.

In Allied Force, the -94 was dropped by dive-bombing F-117's.

Well, the main problem here is that there is no such doctrine coded in Falcon. The goal is to destroy, not to shut down a power plant.

Because of that I think we should forget about the -94 stuff and go back to normal ordnance.

Me and the wingman visited Beograd power plant twice with GBU24's coming back with no result, but the really weird thing is I repeated the mission in 2D, using my "secret channel" to get to the plant ;)... The moment the AI pilots arrived there, the flight just disappeared from the planning screen.. no abort, no KIA's, no MIA, no RTB.

So looks like an alien force field after all..

See u all back in Roswell
