Airbase Project - Korean Highways

Post by Washout » 2002-10-03 11:11:00

Hi All

Some of you may have seen the initial screenshots of Winder's Highway strips, which are getting an overhaul.

At the same time I am thinking that the dutsy roads we have at the moment in Korea should be replaced by Tarmac versions so that the highway strip is on a highway rather than on a dirt track.

Also at the same time upgarade the resolution so they look better at low altitude.

Any thoughts?

Hi Malcolm

chriscarter@cmcarter.demon.co.uk

BTW - Is that Malcolm Hutcheon? If so we still have to arrange a LAN session one weekend (I have a spare slot in the next two weekends coming if you're interested).

Edzim

You're not wrong there :)

I have been working alot with objectives etc over the last months and I have noticed that, as with the buildings, MPS had a woeful sense of scaling in many areas. You will see this most on the city tiles where the buildings represented in one set are much different in size to others. Also the farmland tiles appear to be too large ie the textures need to be higher res with the details made smaller.

For example there's a genric grassland tile (offset 96 IIRC) which is supposed to represent furrowed grass - the problem is that the furrows are some 100 feet wide when you measure them.

Of course redoing all the textures is a massive job (ask Snakeman and crew about ODS) and would require a team of artists and some pretty good coordination to get them done. Something I don't have time for right now but wish I did.
