Afghanistan Theater installer for Open Falcon

Post by Couby » 2007-01-27 13:46:06

Afghanistan Theater v0.1 for Open Falcon

This theater is conversion from the original PMC theater from 2003. Since January 2007 PMC has returned to theater development and this theater will be getting new version in the near future. We would like to hear any bug reports you might have so we can fix them.

Please use this following topic to report bugs:

For any more details, you need to check the PMC Tactical web page and forums.

The size of the installer is a litle bit bigger than the original one, but SPTinstall, Lxnormalfix and textures compression have been preprocessed.
So the installation process is really fast (compared to what I had with installers making all these process).

Afghanistan Installer

Post by Epic » 2007-02-03 23:12:39

Couby

I just wanted to confirm that when using this new installer with OF, its the only install file. Basically, it is the old installer redone to be compatible with OF and AF?

Thanks in advance,

Epic

I'm not sure to understand your questions very well  ...

This is the only install file you have to use in order to install the theater on your Open Falcon version.

The install process is very simple.

- The OpenFalcon version you want to install the theater has to be the active falcon version, at the regkeys point of view (in case you have multiple falcon version on your computer).
- you launch the installer
- you click install
- and when done you've nothing else to do

Basically, the installer it is the old installer redone to be compatible, with OpenFalcon only.
If someone explains me how to do in order to make it compatible with Allied Force I will do with pleasure. But at the moment, I don't have the knowledge.

There is no need to make F4AF conversion now since PMC will be developing Afghanistan further soon enough.

OF other hand was beyond my capability since I cant even run it more than single digit FPS and as recently posted I have no idea how to convert PCX terrain tiles to dds format. So I thank Couby for the conversion, perhaps he can make same conversion for the next release of Afghanistan. Time will tell.

Of course I'm at your disposal for conversion of the next release.

For PCX to DDS conversion I found ImageConverter Plus but payware :( ( http://www.imageconverterplus.com/how-t ... x_dds.html ). If it can help.

I'll try to build a script using texcompress in order to make easier this compression without having a Falcon4 installation.

Installer

Post by Epic » 2007-02-04 18:37:36

Couby

That's exactly what I needed to know. I just wanted to make sure that I had installed it correctly. There is a possible bug, but before I reported it I wanted to make sure I had installed it correctly and I am waiting to have it duplicated on another person's install. If it is duplicated, I will report it in the bug section.

Thanks,

Epic

Hello,

I just installed OFAfTI.zip to my Falcon4 folder that's patched to OF-4.4.1 standard.

Installation has created a new folders: afgan and theaterdefinition in Falcon4\theaters.

But I'm having certain problems when choosing campaigns in Afganistan.

Here's how my UI looks like there:

I see no Afganistan map, I see only airstrips / airbases!

Same thing happens with ODS (OFODSTI.zip file)...
