Hi Snakeman...

- I installed the latest Europe theatre.

- First up, when you say this thing needs a gig of HDD space, you MEAN it! :D

- Second, I had a CTD in the first few seconds of running the Europe modern day centre campaign.

These are the two obvious issues right now. However, the new UI is BEAUTIFUL. It looks really cool. And its nice to see a Spanglehem tail on my F-16.

Looking great!

Some comment :
For Holland, I'd skip Drachten airfield... runway is only 900 m', WAY too short for anything useable. Instead perhaps add De Peel, which is 2700m and is still in use by RNLAF for Patriot batteries etc.

Other than that I can't say much, will fly it a bit more around my own area to see what/if I can find ... :D

Hats off to all of those involved, looking superb

Installed on winXP PRO without problem, test flying for a few minutes,
1/ sound (comms) is crashing almost all time
2/ in 2 cases the program closed and put me on the desktop.

I must say that you have done a very nice work, i will check this again tomorrow and let you know if any problem.

Hi,
I had a CTD on the campaign I was flying a F/A18 on a strike mission against a ship. I had previously run a small TE from Lossiemouth via Wick, Thurso and back Lossiemouth flying as a 2 ship C130 on SAR no problems encountered and flight was very smooth and landed with no incidents. so I ran the present day campaign on a F/A18 squadron and got a mission generated straight away it was a sea strike with CAP SEAD and escort. the mission was a long one requiring refueling on the return leg. I was about 1 hour into the flight with 60 miles to go to target crusing at 21,000 ft 90% throttle about 400kts I had started a descent and moved the radar cursor arrow keys on keyboard and I CTD. I was using Aayes 1.08 F18 cockpit with 3d views enabled also using a thrustmaster afterburner 2 joystick. Had no problems with comms either to or from wing or tower loadout was 2xAim120,2xAim9m, 2xAGM84 3 external tanks changed from default load out with maverics instead of the harpoons, wingy had the default loadout with mavs.

cheers Alicatt

And here are two of mine:

Both CTDs happen within the UI during campaign generation.

I see Im not the only one who have problems with the CTD. I get it when I try to start campaign 1.

I also strart on the ground (no taxiways or anything like that... before you have a lift off!) This is one of the two, tree airbases in Norway. (In the realality called "Rygge MAS", and in the sim "Nowhe".
If you realy need the coordinates, Ill go back and find them. :)

Ok the Europe BETA page has been updated with the fix for campaign 2d CTD's.

Download the fix here

INSTALLATION
Unzip the zip into your falcon dir, allow it to overwrite (only overwrites Europe Theater files).

Sorry about that.

Wasn't either Schleswig or Jagel closed down when the MFG 2 went out of service?
And what about the JaboG 38 in Jever?

Some great mapping there in the theartre excelent valleys to fly up and pop over for attacks in northern Italy had great fun, well impressed :D
I was wanting to take the co-ordinates of the location but pressing Ctl Z + L had no effect and I have never been able to get the co-ords. up is there something I have to enable first or does it only work in certain modes?
Thanks

Hi

Have a couple of airfield errors for you. Gatwick is modled N-S in this theatre, like most UK airfields its E-W. Co-ords

X=821.12
Y=387.8
Z=-7127.2

Manston is missing, its about 2000 meters long & has a military presence. Its roughtly at-
X=839.87
Y=484.37
Z=-6853.95
Again its E-W in runway orientation.

Would you have an interest in the lat,long & elevation of comunication towers & stuff like power stations & bridges in the SE of England ? If it would be usfull to you I'd suply them. I realise that this may not be an area requiring great focus at this time but the offers there.

Yes of course.

I'm not sure how the bridges will place out since they are now created with the auto tiling tool, but we can sure try to place at the most important ones into correct coordinates.

Gatwick IRL is 08/26 L/R.
The F4 orientation has not be done so far. Even when that will be done, some orientations are not possibles due to Falcon restrictions. We always try to use the nearest orientation.
08/26 exists for F4 but not with double runway (if I remember right) - so we'll have to find a compromise.

Manston is no more in the UK OOB. It's a civilian airport now and we decided to let all but very big civilain airports out of F4 otherwise we would end up with more than 250 airports in UK which is not possible for F4 considering that Uk is only a small part of the theater.

Hi Red Dog

I understand the limitations on the UK airfields, the UK is well out of the way. I wonder how many Brits will write TEs for a modern day Battle of Britan though :)

Have an unidentified airfield near X=858.78 Y=368.13, there are two, the most southerly I guess is Heathrow, the northerly one is maybe Northolt but this is a fairly small airfield. Some 3D stuff in the sea at 299.61 & 200.98.

No, not that I know...
I've got my data reg. runways from a standard aviation chart for Holland.

Data on De Peel :
1 runway, heading 24-06
Length 2700m, runway lights available. Tower at 122.1, no TACAN
Location 513220N 0055125E
Officially it's only for civilian use, like Drachten (if it's still open even, can't find much on it at all, apart from my chart, which dates 1996) However since the Dutch airforce is nearby it would make more sense to incluse this base.

Or just forget about De Peel totally :D

Europe SP3 install will not install, I have installed several other, with no problems, Europe give me the message 'failed', after only a few seconds of the install stage.... and I tried twice. I have read a few other people saying its buggy. I said, well, it must be them, well it's not, something is very buggy.

Win98.

---------
Update, I continue to try, I have givenit more and more room, ont he drive, I have available about 500 MB for The European Theater (alone) on D:/ drive, no spaces in the directory name. I did finally get to level 4, but it says failed. I may try again, soon, but after 5 hours, I give up for now.. rebooted many times, trying al tricks. Should not have to trick anything, all other Theaters installed nicely, this one has a problem. At least it does for me.

I will try it once more after a reboot...
**sigh**

so this is my initial findings so far:

I still can't move me tanks around in TE's. (same reason as in beta 3? :)

anyways, thanks for the great download. For now, I'm attacking SAM sites on the Po plains which I initially experienced as quite difficult if you have nothing to hide behind while coming from that southern field in france :) flying low seems to be the answer for isolated sites, but I haven't found a way yet for sites with a high number of AAA and/or SAM sites

hehhe, I said just for the theater alone at least 500 mb....
I have 3 gig and much more that is available for just falcon 4 without additions..
I guess I should have clarrified that better, put it this way I have 40 gigs total... but trying to say I have enough room, yet it continues to fight me..

ok got Europe installed after many many hours and bad starts. Only thing i can think was that, I had a few to many things running, those useless things running int he backgroun with Win98. I had plentyof room, but after trying to run the computer clean, tired to shut down most non-essential stuff, and it took a few hours. on the last try.... I am prety sure that my old Piii-450 cpu just does not have enough power for the Europe unpacking..... it finally unpacked...
I ran it a moment just to see if it setup....
looks good so far... can't wait to fly into my old stomping grounds where I was during the cold war....

Hi SnakeMan,

I am very glad to become a betatester, so i can help you to make a perfect job. Since i was flying the falcon 3.0 and later falcon4 i always had thoughts about things get better. Ok, now lets go:

1. There I found a terrain bug southeast from Aviano AB. On the coust the see is growing up, this is the coust directly before Rijeka AB. I don't know the coordinates now but I can get them later.
2.I found a terrain bug allso in Hungary there is the Balaton, a big lake without water. You can see the contour of the lake very well on the planning map. If you want I will send you the coordinates later.

cheers

I flew some missions in the European theater and I liked it to fly training sorties from Twenthe AFB but after installing Pumpyhead's new F-16AM (MLU) I can't fly anymore. after hitting de fly button it goes back to the desktop.
As an extra question is it possible to make the runway 24/06 ? Leeuwarden AFB is also 24/06
