Re: Europe 128 Campaign
i think its better for a 64 theatre, because of all of the objects = low fps right?

Re: Europe 128 Campaign
I tested the campaign; two squadrons, no ground units and FPS was 55-65...
but then I noticed it was using 512x512 tiles

Re: Europe 128 Campaign
I just reinstalled falcon and confirmed. 16206 objectives in the campaign, two squadrons, no ground units (well actually two tank batallions).
No effect on frame rates, I seem to get normally 60-70fps and those nice 200.0 when looking sky'ish.
About teams; hey its test version.
About beta/release; soon. very soon. oh what the heck, lets even say "this weekend".

Re: Europe 128 Campaign
Is it possible to re-tile the final theatre using CATE? I'm asking because all of Switzerland is green forest - even the Alps But the DEM is quite good...I managed to sneak through well-known valleys and the form/flow of the landscape was very nice and correct.
An improved tiling should be quite easy (for those who know how to operate CATE - which I don't): Switzerland = Farmland < 2000 ft < Forests < 5400 ft < Mountains

Re: Europe 128 Campaign
Absolutely. would you like to "paint" the Swiss area of the bitmap for us so CATE knows which terrain type to apply and where?quote:Originally posted by tom2:

Re: Europe 128 Campaign
Yes, that's the perfect example of how CATE can come in handy.quote:Originally posted by tom2:

The idea is to :
- Paint the Switzerland country in a BMP picture of the same size than the terrain (as it's a 128x128 theater, that means a 2048x2048 bitmap) (for example, draw the whole theater in white, except Switzerland that you'll paint in black, just to please Julian )
- Make some rules in CATE conf file to follow your guidelines about altitude, when black pixels are found
- Run and apply with CATE !
Regards.

Re: Europe 128 Campaign
OK, I will paint it black
(and add a red door..)
Where do I get the necessary bitmap from?
I can't do anything against it - but the rule for switzerland is really as easy as I mentioned before We don't have rice paddies and got rid of the swamps a hundred years ago. But I need to see glaciers and mountain peaks...
The cool thing about flying in a theatre that you know from reallife(tm) is that you get a totally new experience about distance, height and speed in Falcon! (and see the shortcomings of the 3d engine...)

Re: Europe 128 Campaign
This Europe 128 theater should be available tomorrow.
Its working rather good already now, but I made some adjustments for my CATE default config files (for Vietnam) and they should be applied into the terrain...
