Here are two important links which offer data on the european theater:SCRAMBLE
and
KAUNAS Lithuania AT worldaerodata.com

It's current situation data- so for historic info one has to know where the elder units were stationed.

I used Scramble pretty much to work on the airbase list spreadsheet for the Europe stations.dat file.

BTW, Snake Man, The spreadsheet is almost done, I'll get back to you soon :)

Red Dog,

I'm looking to provide some support in tacedit for more automated squadron generation. I'm thinking a simple CSV format that will come out of excel maybe.

Something like
Airfield-Id (or maybe X,Y), squad number, and some other bits.

Got any ideas on this?

and link exel file to Squadron patch number! :)

BTW any chance to increase patch slots?

yeah - thats the plan.

No - slots fixed in exe... it also has a mapping table saying SquadId X-> UI-ID Y

Would have been a simple fix in the Sp2 days :(

Hi Julian

Any chance of a csv export/import for the Units as well as the objectives?

Or am I missing something as usual?

Yeah - fraid so. The format for units is variable, thats the problem - as well as horribly complicated to. The brigade, batallion, taskforce, squadron, flight, and package structures are all very different (although they share some common bits). Also, some of the records, like flights change depending on flag status. Another nasty is things like waypoints, which are part of the structure. You can have many waypoints or none, some types have several lists of waypoints etc.

Anyway - all in all its not really practical for CSV as I see it. If someone wants to try, I can give details of the UNI format that is currently exported though.

So instead, I'm looking at generation formats. As many of the parameters can be assumed when creating new units, it is easier. We can assume a squadron is not moving, so has no waypoints, assume it is fully fueled, has the standard SSD list of weapons, has not been spotted yet etc etc. Therefore, for making a new squadron, probably 90% of the state we can either generate or set to some default value.

Anyway - thats the target.

The next tacedit already has an objective generation format, which looks like a much truncated current CSV format. It looks like this
code:

Code: Select all

2.0 Objective Generate Wed May 29 08:18:16 2002
Name, Id, Object, X, Y, Z, Owner, CampId, Parent, Priority, FOwner
Peterhead, 28, 1623, 284, 1013, 0, 2, 28, 0, 50, 2
LEEDS AND BRADFORD, 1319, 1779, 272, 608, 0, 2, 1319, 0, 40, 2
NOTTINGHAM, 1342, 1779, 305, 503, 0, 2, 1342, 0, 40, 2

I gotcha :) - actually I was expecting something like "that's been in there for over six months already - are you blind?" ;)

Would wizards (not the Gandalf/Tim the Enchanter sort) be a good idea for generating units?

That squadron list is for "present day" or basically current SP3 weaponry list.

I'd like to get tips for Cold War 1985 scenario also.

Please guys, feed me some info. When I get details it takes no time to create campaign from that.

First we should decide how to assign teams to the european countries, its difficult task as we only have 6 or maybe 7 teams to use.

Anyways here is the airbase list so you can point out what squadrons should go to which airbase.

Is that the list we already worked on, Snakeman?

I'll work on Europe during my holidays :D :D I'll finalize the rnw orientation according to your ID list.

If you could send me the latest ID list for Europe before friday, that would be great ;)

Bolzano : no active aircraft squads but air cavalry helos.
4° Reggimento "Altair"
Bolzano
Augusta AB.206C-1
Augusta AB.205A-1

The runway's rather short for bigger a/c anyway (3000-4000ft)

Klagenfurt has also some sort of air cavalry with some transport helos... thats all

Whoa... nice to see all the progress.

Here's current day placement for the Netherlands AFAIK

Volkel : 3 squads F16
306th F16AM/BM
311th F16AM/BM
312th F16A/B

Twenthe : 2 squads F16
313th F16AM/BM
315th F16AM/BM
620th Hawk/Stinger

Leeuwarden
322th F16AM/BM
323th F16AM/BM
303th AB412SP
630th Hawk/Stinger

Eindhoven
334th KDC10/Gulf IV/Fokker50/Fokker60/C130

Soesterberg
298th CH-47D
300th AS532U2 Cougar

Gilze-Rijen
299th Bo-105
301th AH-64A
302th AH64D

Woensdrecht
EMVO PC7

De Peel
801th Patriot/Hawk/Stinger
802th Patriot/Hawk/Stinger
803th Patriot/Hawk/Stinger
804th Patriot/Hawk/Stinger

I'd say Twenthe, Volkel, Leeuwarden, Soesterberg and Gilze-Rijen are vital, the rest of the units stationed at other bases could be distributed.

Soesterberg was a base for the USAF as well, housing F4's in the seventies, lateron F-15's

Hope this helps, sorry I can't contribute as much as most other folks here.

Hi everyone!

I noticed that Finnish airports Utti and Tampere-Pirkkala were introduced as Russian airports in the campaign. I know it is impossible to simulate every country and its airforce in this game, but...anyway, as a Finn I just had to say something :)

For Europe, does`nt it have the southern part of Norway included? If so, will you add the 332 squad (F-16A/B [with MLU]) from RNoAF?
And at Stavanger / Sola there is an 330 Squadrone with Sea Kings (If I`m not totally wrong here...)

Hi,
I have just installed the Europe theater and everything seemed fine until I started to build a TE from my home airfield, Wick, North Scotland only to find it was over 100km to far north and is in the north sea which makes for difficult take offs and landings :)

Latest Air Forces Monthly, August edition, has a poster of European Military Air Bases Locations attached. Must be some hundred bases there. Seems to cover current main bases only. Iceland, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and western Russia are not covered. Neither is Kaliningrad.
