Congratulations FreeFalcon 5 team.

Here is the release post by Hustler.
It has been 25 months since we have released a version of FreeFalcon, and that is much to long. There are many reasons, but I won't bore this community with them now. It has always been our goal and mission to create and release upgrades to Falcon4.0 about once a year. This release will get us back on track. This version of FreeFalcon contains an absolutely stunning amount of new material, it also contains some flaws and does not work as well as some of our past releases. We continue to work on this version to make it better and I'm asking for your help.

In order to improve Falcon going forward, I'm making an open plea for assistance. What we need are people that understand how Campaigns work, how to create new terrains and tiles, and some guys with C++ code experience. I/we really need someone who can help fix the multi-player section of the code. Please don't volunteer to create skins or BETA Test, I have that covered. I need developers. If you have some skills or knowledge about Falcon and how it works and feel you would like to contribute, PM me.

I have created a totally new forum for FreeFalcon5, please visit that forum for support, information, and assistance. It will be up and running shortly. Post your crash logs into the thread set aside for those, they will all be read. If we can immediately help you, we will. All the Developers and BETA Pilots will be answering your questions and offering assistance in this new forum. Please don't ask questions or look for answers on the main forum, or forums outside of FreeFalcon.

OK, let's get to FreeFalcon5.

First: Copy your log book out of your current install and put it somewhere safe, outside of your Microprose or current install directory.

Second: Install Falcon4.0 from the original CD.

Third: Install FF5.0. The installer will ask you where you want to install FF5. I suggest that you do not put it into the Program Files folder of Windows. Many of the older utilities have a problem with the space between Program and Files. This installer will add FF5 to your start menu, add a link to our site, add a link to the manual, and contains an uninstaller. For VISTA users this installer will run as Admin and do all that is required to ensure a proper installation into that OS.

Here is where you can get it.

How to download with Rapidshare

After clicking the first link you'll have to click on the free-user-button (if you don`t

have a Rapidshare Premium account) or click on the premium-user-button (if you have a

Rapidshare Premium account).

For users without a premium-account do the following:

1 ) Afer having clicked on the free-user-button you´ll have to wait some seconds before the download-procedure continues. When the Download-Button appears, click on it, your download will start. After having downloaded the first file you can't continiue the download directly, because Rapidshare uses an IP-block to force Free-Users to download the files only one by one and to wait a certain time after each download. By changing your IP address, you an bypass this limitation.

2 ) To cange your IP adress, simply shut down your internet connection for some seconds, then enter the web again. After doing this, most of the users recieve a new IP adress, because their provider provides them with a dynamic IP.

3 ) click on the next link to continue the download and repeat the procedure from step 2)until all files have been downloaded.

4 ) After finishing the download click on the first archive, labeled "FreeFalcon5.0.part01.rar". This will start the extracting sequence which generates "FreeFalcon5.0.exe".

You can use the open-source-freeware "JDownloader" to automate this:

http://jdownloader.org/download/index

The homepage is multilanguage, here you can find all relevant information.

People with a static IP will find a solution there, too.

If you have a static or dynamic IP depends on your provider. For further infomation see the
notes of your provider.
