Hey CCC, there is an annoying problem over the Mig-23. after getting shot his arm pylons with the weaponry keeps flying or falling in most unrealistic way.

I don't know why. i saw that lots of times over my theater, i shot dozens of Syrian Mig-23 over Jordan and they act the same.

Mrivers offers an F4-patch version of his F-111 models for download. Outstanding work, love 'em.

Nope, works fine for me. Have only used the eyeball-o-meter for testing purposes and a 3D-Prophet 4500 with 64MB RAM. Should there be a bigger difference in using a single 1024 or four 256 textures?

Btw: The Mig-31 is also mapped to a single 1024 Texture, they are much handier.

sorry Dudi, unable to reproduce that in Balkan TE. Most time mig23 got a missile hit, it turn and burn then explore, typically. i seldom found them scattering parts.

Yea, tested Mikes Vark's in campaign, no notable fps drop on my rig.

I don't know, if 1024 will become the new "standard", if such thing exists. Personally, I would'nt want to create a new skin for a model that consists of 16 little patches and I think most texture artists agree in this point.

However, I will continue to use hi-res textures for my models. I dont bother, if UT decides to rescale them to 256. After all there's still Mikes allmighty Texman-plugin to handle big textures. So, why use a batch of 256 textures, if one 1024 brings the same performance. But this remains to be seen. ;)

The one advantage of a dozen or so 256 maps is that each can have it's own color palette. For example, on the viper models, the pilot, nozzle, interior nozzle, top of model and bottom of model can have its own palette. This seems crucial when you get into "exotic" schemes such as the IAF, Belgians, etc...

Who needs an SMT, if you can have the M-model? :D

Not sure, if Shawn is willing to add it to the DB. Remember, right now we have 4 different versions (A,S/C,M,G). The SP4 DB is quite a hefty mother and I can already hear people complain about the download-size.

FM, loadout-data and ct-records aren't much different from what we have. I will talk to Shawn about the necessary additions.

Outstanding!!!
That AMX looks incredibly detailed, how many nodes has it got?

I bet Washout can hardly wait to get his hands on this one. The AMX may give the balkans a whole new twist. Me drooling.

Hey, Quake!
Don't know if you're pissed off with me, but I formatted the wrong HD and lost my skin templates and my mail list, inlcuding your e-mail, but then i decided i would stop making skins.

Anyway, i think the AMX is good enough for me to back tex'ing - I MEAN, IF NOONE IS DOING IT YET.
What do you say?

+/- 2150 nodes

For the Balkan theater the "great" "mythical" "exaggerated" and "only" CCC has modeled all the ships and many vehicles.....

That's ok, i lost your e-mail and you didn't send me any other ones, so i couldn't talk to you and besides I was really angry about loosing my skins and decided not to make add-on's again.

Offcourse it was just a lack of patience, which is a little better now.

Anyway, c'ya.

Hi WaveyDave

Nice modelling. Haye you made it with Mike's LOD-compiler? What about a 12-sided body, 8 sides look a bit rough IMO.

Anyhow, keep it up.

Hi Spkie, Thanks

I made it with 3ds and imported it into lodeditor. I will happily remake it with a 12 sided body that will add 44 polys. Advise like this is appreciated.

Dave
