The SAM units are probably the hardest thing to add because there's so many configuration variables that must be correct so the SAMs take the longest to add.

I'm not sure if we'll model both the SA-12 A and B - the A model is an anti-missile SAM (vs. cruise missiles and SSMs - or is it the B model?) and since we can't target cruise missiles it doesn't make sense to add it.

The "anti-aircraft" version will behave just like an SA-10 but with a longer range...its on the list.

We also have some of the tank models added but they aren't in TacRef yet.

suggest you add them as some non-SAM vehicle, like radar vehicle? placing there for targets...very critical nice targets.

let wait if FV can enable TBD or NMD or something else.

I see.
sims like J/F18 and J/USAF benefited from their 3d engine, their 3d format is closer to 3ds.

Max is working on many new model for J/USAF, and that prove how a good plugin can speed up modeling.

F4 is another story.

just my 2c, maybe wingtip pylons could be treated as "adaptor", as sobtysia ECM pod wont need additioinal pylons to load them.

Aeyes,

Does Ron know about the skins Dulex is working on for Tornado? Wouldn't want to see any work duplicated.

I assume Ron knows about it, since it is in the same thread as he answered in and therefor will get an email when a reply is added.

Dulex's skins look great!
http://mitglied.lycos.de/AlexLutz1/Skins.htm

Since Im a tornado fan, cant resist to post something:

3d model: if Ripper could add some antenna blades on LOD1, the sense of detailed quality could be even better!!

2d pit: Aeyes, are you working on a 1024x768 version? or exclusively 1600x1200? Obviously you got nice shots for it, did you set the layout for front level view? pliz dont try to include map display in front-level view, BTW i think we can get a bit closer to panel, means the central piece of front canopy could have more space, better view. thanx you :)

skins: dont worry about the duplication. simmers can use ALL-somebody's-Skins thru one-click f4patch swapping, the trick is proved.

Hi CCC,
Re Tornado panel layout, I havent done layout per view yet, but expect it to be similar to the way the MiG-29 was done.
That way you keep the feel of being close to the panel like IRL. That would most probably exclude a complete map MFD in the front level view, maybe partially (partial is a problem imo)
In general the layout is exactly like the real plane, including dimensions, minimal tweaking may be required though.

did you got skin artist work on texture?

as for basket system.. guess our LE guru can cut parts from IL-78 and paste on your model. Or you can model it with 3ds max, texture it, and save it that part as lod. could be glued to your model as a switch.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help out with the texture, an artist I am not :)

I got a refuelpod.lod from the yahoo LE group but the basket just spins, doesn't extend. Ill happily build the 3d model for the pods but I'm still a LE beginner I don;t know how to extend the hose, I haven't tried DOF stuff yet, the model has no undercarriage yet :)

Does anyone know what state probe and drouge refuelling is at in SP3?

Dave

Only the IL-78 supports this, and currently its tied to the parent record I think, which makes things a bit yucky. Manfred made some changes but I don't think to this.

Anyway - try looking at the IL-78 and see how that works, should give you some ideas. If not - ask some more questions and I'll try and answer.
I was going to export a lot of the stuff about tanker booms and things, but time was too tight.

Hi,

I looked at the IL78 and there are slots on the wings and fuselarge where the refuel pods should be but I can't see the pods, I have no idea what these point to, haven't spent much time on the slots as I've been enjoying the splitting process ;)

If I replace the IL78 model with the VC10 and add the same slots should I see a baskets? Should the refuel pod be modeled with the plane and just the basket/hose are in the slots?

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the help

OK - well basically what happens is if the Parent entry is IL78, then there will be three slots in the model.
Attached to each of these slots will be a standard single weapon rack

Attached to each of these racks will be a drogue model. These models will start to deploy the basket when the refueling aircraft gets close.

So - as long as you have three slots available, it will be fine.

Only basket 1 is used currently, as the AI don't know how to refuel from 3 drogues.

Julian.
