Phew, have'nt worked on the Fulcrums for quite a while, maybe I should finish them one day :o
Got to talk to Basil about a new texture-set, mine was'nt that great IMO.

Do you want me to update the website with your improved WCMD model?

ccc, nice modeling. Can I send you the SA-12 launcher in it's current form? I simply can't find the time and the nerve to finish this thing. How about you? :D :D :D

Spike, yes on the WCMD, no new screens on my end though, so you'll have to get some with OGL again i guess.

Spike, i didn't use yours and Mike's lods - yet i took parts of your texture.

The lods are newly converted by Quake, i did some polishing job and got their radar disc DOFed, add some rough skins.

The complete battery is composed of-

9M82 SA-12b GIANT missile - done.
9M83 SA-12a GLADIATOR missile - done.
9A82 SA-12b GIANT TELAR - done.
9A93 SA-12a GLADIATOR TELAR - done.
9A84 GIANT Launcher/Loader Vehicle (LLV) - done.
9A85 GLADIATOR Launcher/Loader Vehicle (LLV) - done.
9S15 BILL BOARD Surveillance Radar system - done.
9S19 HIGH SCREEN Sector Radar system - done.
9S32 GRILL PAN Guidance Radar system -?? no pic.
9S457 Command Station - done.

PS- the first pic is Snow drift system for gadfly/grizzly battery.

Just to let you know, this project is still alive. This must be the oldest model around, ranging back to ccc's nose-mod, back in 2001. I guess, it's time to finish the job. ;)

Pumpy, will you DOF that canopy?

The sliding type. may use a regular DOF, pivot at tens' feet above canopy, then 2-3 degree of canopy open anlge may provide a relatively smooth "sliding". just my 2c.

If you want a perfect sliding canopy, it can be done with 4 DOFS.
code:

Code: Select all

<--A--B--C
At locations A & C, there is 1 DOF, both rotate the same direction.

At location B, there are 2 DOFs, both rotate the opposite of A & C.

The distance between A & C is how far the thing will slide, assuming the DOFs rotate 90 degrees.

When you rotate the DOFs here is what happens:
code:

Code: Select all

<--A--B--C

       B
      / \
  <--A C

         B
         |
<--A (A & C are now in the same spot.

Hi Mike,

Yes, I ended up using 3 dof's to get the sliding effect. Similar to what I used to get the extending canopy pole on the F-16B models.

The Mig-19 further complicates things because of the flip-up action of the rear of the canopy. The big problem I usually find is getting the one DOF angle to work with all the movements I need.

Plus I had to use 6 nested DOF's to get enough travel on the pitot tube.
