LOL, that would mean that SP2's Avionics would be Sience Fiction like I guess :D :D

I don't think Lomac will be that advanced.
I still think that SP2~SP3 will have a more advanced avionics

Just my 2 cents :)

nice..very nice shots.

wonderful gfx engine, make modeling easier.

take a closer look,
*their AGM-119 is wing-folded on pylon.
*choppers are highly detailed, for such a fast-mover sim.
*su vs mirage, poses a direct challenge to Falcon V theater. hammer the expectation on that new theater.
*new detailed A10 pit and A10 visual, another slap on Falcon: OIR

well..we'll see how LOMAC handle authenticity of avonics and campaign..

Well, the skins sure are very detailed, but...
am I the only one who thinks that the planes are too _clean_?

In detail terms we can surelly say it's great. Concern must go for realism, will it be hardcore as we expect?

Too clean? I don't understand.

guess LOMAC artists try to keep skin "clean", for its a new sim, use brand new a/c right off the production line.

soon modders will create "weathered" skins, no worry.

Three new shots up!! a/c in show-off formation!

can't resist to check what we haven't in our database..so bear with me,

1. NATO air arsenal: we need SH-3 seaking(3ds model done for a while), and finish our mirag2000.

2. russian air arsenal: we need one mig27 to fill the slot. as for choppers, several of them are still in 3ds..mi26/28, ka52b/ka28, thats all.

3. US air arsenal: well, thats ch53 and sh3. and waiting Rick lend us S-3.

New shots on lomac site, Aug 2.

my 2c:

Train, ya we need trains for theaters too. just remind me of Falcon3 Kurile island theater. dunno if we could set up railway system and make trains moving to and fro. At least we should try put some static trains/rail yard and station, mostly for Ho-nei.

again LOMAC screenshots updated!!

Obviously developers are agressively detailing many 3d models!
Take a look at their missile, 3d pilot, and undercarriage/gear of new F/A-18!

new update, amazing canopy open/close feature!
With some code-editing, i think f4 can do this too, 3d pit canopy open/close DOF. sure, there's still look-thru issue in pit lod.

new pic of Perry class frigate!
http://www.lo-mac.com/screens.php?id=921

Incredible details!! i cant believe LOMAC team spent so much effort on surface vessel, look at those vent holes, boxy structure, and cylinder parts(though use 5-6 faced).

we can hardly catch this quality without z-buffer. :(

nice cloud.
from the first pic its hard to tell if LOMAC use hi-res cloud texture for plain poly. F4 should be able to do the same, at the cost of huge memory demand.

the second pic, beautiful wide-view, it seems they use some polys for clouds too!!

The problems isnt the models I think, while it would make the modeling process easier..
The problem with Falcon (is nothing new) its the way it distribute the light. Also add to it with the new terrain textures.

With a new graphic engine and some codeing falcon would be back on track.

I did some test at increasing res of cloudtiles.
Result was nice (although corrupted due to my mistake) but qiute fps extensive from what I recall

Sixteen new shots-- obsolutely eye-watering(and hardware-challenging :( ) sim!

my 2c:

1. nice pit perspective in all a/c pits!
2. wow i notice control tower use tranparency for windows..
3. su34..nice.. waiting our upgrade in f4!
4. alarm.. the one in f4 needs a fix, mainwing too large.
5. carrier kuz...unable to ski-jump in f4, too bad.
6. OPFOR HAS..about this zie! ours could be too small... just my guess.
7. dynamic shadows..cool..just too detailed..
8. eagle vs fulcrum.. ah ha..drop tank polys too low?

Awesome shots Robert. I remember some pictures of Su-25's parking under open skies so the large parking-flag should be ok. I say we stick to your HAS-size. Check out the background on this picture:

Pumpy, you are right, your HAS is a true replica of that pic.

i do a rough check, pic shown HAS diameter is no more than 14 or 15 meter.
-----------------------
su25 wingspan 14.4m
mig21 7.2m
mig23 8.3 swped.
mig29 11.4m
mirage2000 9.3m
--------------------

Obviously HAS of that type can only host small size a/c, or for types like mig21/23/27... so, campaign designers should take this into consideration, small HAS can only hold limited type of a/c(Sq) in that base.

Hi ccc

The first round of parking places I have done for SP4 has both large and small parking places on all airfields apart from the highway strips. There should be a minimum of 4 large parking places and 8 small at each end of the runway.

We may need to tweak the aircraft dat files though to make sure nobody is scraping their wingtips ;)

ya, take care with wingtips!

i think those real shots are old design of Warsa Pact era -- the size is designed for mig21/23/su7/22 series;
modern jets like mig29 or su25 won't fit in with good wingtip clearance.

Hmmm..since we are short of OPFOR airbase facilities..maybe somebody own MSFS airbase addons or Flanker 2.5 simmers can post screenshots to help this? (better place a known aircraft by the building for gauging the size)

I think thats really not necessary because at 500knots i cant see if the ship has 3 or 9 antennas... they rather get some decent photorealistic textures on the ship ;)

But im very very impressed by the city! this is way cool - I hate cities that are just painted with textures...

I prefer more and more 3D cockpits insted of 2D. I think the time for the "unreadable" 2D pictures for cockpits are out. Also feel a bit odd to grab the mouse and move a cursor around, then I would prefer only to hit a key combination.

Another batch of screenshots and video!

this time featuring mig29"S", takeoff, and nice weather effect.

cool, i think Spike could post ours. and if Daws can spend few hours, we could have a better 3d pit too.

btw, what's vehicle on left upper corner of this shot? i never see it in Russian Arm Catalog..

I am starting to wonder. This is a Falcon site right. I am starting to think that all these praises for other flight sims are commercials. Like, a couple of so called Falcon wannabees are actually trying to get the rest of us going on some new sim that aint gonna be worth a crap.
Eye candy is one thing. But if it flys like a duck, attacks like a lame duck, then its crap.
I'm tired of hearing the 3D eyewear crap.
Yeah I fell for all those personnal testimonials. THEY SUCK! 70 dollaroonies
down the drain.
Commercials on an info site might be legal,
but it aint legitamate.
Untill the product comes out- which is what now, 2004? Stop the commercials.

Hi Wolf,

One way to better oneself is to see what others are doing. If what others are doing fits in with your simming philosophy, then you can adapt/adopt those features into your sim in order to make your sim even more comprehensive.

Praising the features of another sim does not necessarily mean that that sim is the best or that you will only play that sim.

Every simulator has areas that can be improved, including Falcon. The fact that this forum exits at all is tribute to that.

If acknowledging the good works of others in the simulation field makes you less sure of yourself, then please spare yourself the heartache of reading these forums.

If you think that Falcon can rest on its current laurels, then by all means, play your current version, and seek no others.

Speaking for myself, I think Falcon can always grow, and any tips or techniques we can assimilate into the game from other sims are an asset to us all.

My apologies to Snakeman for tying up his bandwidth with this.

Here is the real deal....

That specific type of HAS with a SU-27 sitting in front of it! Now we know we have it right, check out how it is to perfect scale to the one created for F4!

Yeah, but you'd be hard pressed to try to get a Su-27 in our HAS. A Mig-29 is a tough fit, but at least you won't scrape your wingtips.
