SuperPAK Entity Database Expansion
Hi All
Thought I'd post this just in case anyone has missed it.
Shawnagne (and I assume Jerry) are working on expanding the entity (that's all objects, vehicles etc etc) database for SP2. He already has a bunch of data entries for some of the other theatres but in case he has missed something can you guys mail him at sagne[at]wcoil.com with your requests.
Hopefully when this exercise is finished the database should contain pretty much all the aircraft etc that other theatres need.

Re: SuperPAK Entity Database Expansion
I would add the following to the list
F-16CI (Israeli Aircraft Industries Blk 40 upgrade)
F-16DI
F-16AM Mid Life Update.
(The Israeli F-16s are sufficiently different from their American counterparts to be considered a seperate "block" - eg, the Israeli F-16s have a much higher take-off weight, a different FLIR, and different avionics)
J-10 "Lavi"
Python -3 air to air missile. (and the Chinese variant)
Q-5 - Chinese ground attack version of the MiG-19
FC-1 - Chinese/Pakistani light strike fighter.
JH-7 - Chinese Jaguar type attack aircraft.
(The Chinese fighters are good for future Korea campaigns, or the Afghanistan/Pakistan map)
Saab Gripen
(Someone was talking about working on a Scandinavia theatre - well then)
Alpha Jet
(for a Europe 1985 theatre)
Choppers:
Tiger
Mi-8
Mi-17
Mi-28
KA-52
Westland Lynx
...and that's my list....

Re: SuperPAK Entity Database Expansion
We need some list for Vnam, check my post in Vnam forum.
BTW, many of them are done, i mean lod models.
and, since there is no upper limit, i suggest add variants. he he, list's getting even longer!

Re: SuperPAK Entity Database Expansion
Gavin, many many many things ARE in the making. honestly, lots of raw 3ds models are done. it will definitely a big headche for those handling the database..not to mention the variants, i mean those differ in performance, loadout, avonics, etc.
now, pliz help list some variants, and old Vnam toys. we need details.

Their is information regarding variants on the same website. Click on the link to the fighters name and you get a detailed listing of varioants....well, somewhat detailed .
Sample: After clicking on F18 link you get this....>>http://www.fighter-planes.com/info/f18.htm

ya, i see.
so we got questions like:
will F4database include F14A, F14A+, F14B, and F14D?
note they are different in many aspect, even use the same 3d model. >> then triple the workload on poor editing guys

Re: SuperPAK Entity Database Expansion
Chris/Jerry/Shawn,
Can you also include a new rocket for Willipete. I know all the details haven't been worked out yet, but at least we could add it and give it a salvo of 1 in the new .rkt file. Once we know the CT, I can add the speech easily.

ccc,
I'm thinking that even if the variants use the same 3d models, in the sim you can still have the benifit of individual skins and loadouts. So all the more!

Re: SuperPAK Entity Database Expansion
Colin,
Do you know if there is a specific type of rocket used for signalling?
I've only found 2.75" M156 White Phosphorous (Smoke) rockets so far:
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/missile/hydra-70.htm
This can be easily added, but we would need a new rocket type, and of course we're back to the smoke SFX problem - we can add a crater that has a slot, which will make the crater smoke like a factory.
This was a long discussion many moons ago and it was decided we couldn't do it at the time. The mechanics of making the Smoke Rocket use a certain SFX that uses this new crater weren't known.
Of deeper importance, was the AI logic required to get on-call CAS flights to work correctly with smoke markers - even IF we get the smoke marker to use the smoke crater, how to make AI logic use it? This is the $64,000 question that, apparently, no one knows. Until we can get the AI logic to behave correctly with smoke markers, its probably a moot issue.

I don't know the details but GPS guidance is on the SP2 list.
Not sure about LOAL modes (like with Brimstone, Hellfire).
Many of the items in this thread were already on the list in one way or another. Its good to see them mentioned here.
We'll try to get a more complete list soon.
Keep the suggestions coming! :^)

Hi Jerry,quote:Originally posted by hc_pookie:

Don't know of any specific type. I think just having a basic 3D model and one rocket firing per salvo would be a good start. Perhaps we can do something with the smoking crater as you suggest, for SP2.
I doubt we will be able to get AI to add as FAC with smoke-markers successfully, but you can always fly as FAC yourself

I don't think we need too many pre-Vietnam planes in this sim... it isn't made to handle the guns-only and props like some others.
AIM-9J/L
Aim-7F
MICA
R-37 (that new one for the MiG-31B)
AGM-158 JASSM
AGM-84G (or is it H?) SLAM-ER
GPU-5 (the mini-GAU-8/A that was carried once in Desert Storm...)
LAU-10 Zuni
Variable or edited chaff/flare loads for different a/c
Derby
You guys are adding the E-2 right?

Re: SuperPAK Entity Database Expansion
Colin,
I can add both the smoking crater and the WP rocket.
See if you can find a way to edit the SFX to point to a different sfx. There are a few craters, so there must be a way to tell it which one - unless the different craters are for the smaller bombs vs. the bigger bombs.
I agree, human only FAC would be nice too...it hinges on how to get that crater SFX changed (for that weapon).

Be sure to use large-cal rocket,,hmm, four-in-one pod?
BTW, did you change that black smoke to pink/red/green color?

What the Europe theater could use in the database:
F-16B Block15
F-16A/B MLU (not sure if needed...)
NF-5A/B (Dutch F-5 version, different hardpoints, but we can use the same model)
F-104A, F-104RG (Germany, Holland, Italy in 70's/80's)
F-15B (Soesterberg AFB had a few in the 80's)
Orpheus recce pod (Dutch & Belgium F-16's)
P3C Orion patrol
For on the ground:
German Leopard II tank
British Challenger tank
And I'm sure I forgot some things as usual

Hi Jerry
Can you specify a crater model in the weapon's parent destroyed entry. I'm sure I've seen some on the bombs.
Later

Re: SuperPAK Entity Database Expansion
Don't think so - the "destroyed" model is only for the weapon model, which is removed from the world after the weapon's Final Time is reached.
That's an interesting idea for Human CAS/FAC interaction... I may need to play with that to see what happens (IF I have time).
Thinking aloud.... the SFX is the crater that you see appear on the ground. This is the crater that I've added to the 3D files, and if we could make a copy/new SFX model, we could hard-code this SFX to be used by different weapons (I think)....
My observations indicate that the SFX appears to be hard-coded to the weapon TYPE - a cluster SFX for the cluster weapons, runway-SFX for the durandal-type weapons, Water SFX for water weapons, etc.
I don't know that there is anything we can do without hard-coding the SFX, but to make this work JUST for the SFX we need to add a new weapon class - "FAC" or "Marker" or "Smoke" - etc. We can code this new weapon class to use a (copy) of the "ground explosion" SFX that is used by the HE/GP weapons, and point this new SFX to the new 3D models.
... keep in mind that this is all speculation because I'm not a code jockey, but the logic seems sound. Once all of this is complete, we will have HUMAN-ONLY FAC, but no AI FAC. AI would STILL need to be given FAC logic, like an on-call CAS or something along that line. I'm 99.999% certain that this is just too much for SP2.
The smoking crater 3D model is there no matter what happens! While I'm sceptical it would work like we intend, if we could tweak the Destroyed weapon's 3D model to use the smoking FAC crater, then we WOULD have a kludgy Human FAC! I'll test this and let you know what happens.... perhaps tonight or this weekend.

the problem is, how to get MBTs move into these positions AUTOMATICALLY?
similar modeling could be used for A/c shelters, a/c can part there thru editing airbase files.

Just wanted to say that some kind of coastal fortress should be there.
Something like this, maybe ? http://www.mil.no/sjoforsvaret/kystarti ... index.html
Also light attack boats like this one :
http://www.mil.se/marinen/10/15/15b1_se.html Swedish design, sold to a lot of countries.

Hi everyone,
I was reading the list (been reading for a while now) of new aircraft being added and wanted to point out that there are no VC-10 tankers included or other Probe and Drouge tanker aircraft other than those in the US navy
Regards
Dave

Re: SuperPAK Entity Database Expansion
The 32nd TFS operated the F-15A/B until the very early 80s when they were exchanged for the F-15C/D. Not until 1991/1992 did the 32nd FS switch from the F-15C/D to the MSIP Upgraded F-15A/B. They actually operated two F-15B's, the -127 and -163. BTW MSIP Stands for Multi Stage Improvement Program.quote:Originally posted by javanree:

Some of the original F-15C/Ds went CONUS and some ended up with the 325th FW at Tyndall AFB, FL. However some of the Wolfhound F-15C's were actually sold to Saudi Arabia.
BTW, Holland and Germany operated the F-104G and TF-104 in the 80s, not the F-104A.

P-3A / P-3C Orion

C-17 Globemaster III
C-141 Starlifter
C-5 Galaxy

Most are ready in raw 3ds files, many are in the process of lod conversion. Big thanx to Dragon/Mac artists and Orion from Turkey!
We'll fill those blanks in f4browse, a/c section.

A-5 Vigiliante.. hmm, i like this one, but need a opertional carrier first!
KC-130F/T Hercules.. need a functional basket/horse DOF or switch first.
Mi-2 Hoplite...he he Tazz..where you want to place this toy?
BTW, RP, choppers are in the making.
