Toonces' Nevada screenshot thread #1
I'm working on a new tweak for the Nevada theater. I've been snapping some random shots, here they are!
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Thanks for posting, really nice looking shots and great to see you interested in Nevada theater.
The most horrible bug in Nevada theater is the texture tiles, for example this image shows them clearly. I want to fix that terrain transition ASAP. Actually I have already done 512 res tiles from google earth, but I'm in slow process of building the rest of the tiles to accompany them. Don't hold your breath for them to arrive anytime soon, I'm just fiddling with them now and then.
Anyways, keep up the good work

I simply don't have the talent to do tiles or I'd offer to help.
I know I asked something like this before...how hard would it be to do that STRM thing like those guys are doing with Spain, but doing it for Nevada?

There are the couple pinned topics for that stuff, that's as much as I know about that.toonces wrote:how hard would it be to do that STRM thing like those guys are doing with Spain, but doing it for Nevada?

I saw this video on youtube this afternoon. Of course, it is FSX, but it provides a nice look at what 'another sim' is doing for the scenery. Maybe it will givey you some ideas for tiling...

One more:

I saw that other thread where that guy was messing with the pallette. I wonder if there might be some room to borrow tiles from Korea, but adjust the pallette to make them brown and desert-y. Rather than reinvent the wheel with all new tiles.
Looking at these two videos, we need to make the desert alot darker brown. And, in another video I saw the terrain had the tree-like stuff that Korea uses, but dark brown- almost scrub bush looking. I wonder...if we colored up the default Korea forests brown, if they would look like brown trees, or if we could make the illusion of cactus/scrub terrain?

From the new version (Strategic Strike Scenario). A WVR dogfight with 3xF-22. I wounded one, died when I split-S'd into the dirt
