Im really scared at the proliferation of new theaters. Image Image

Pliz show us theater coverage and some screenshots, so people can learn whats wrong with tiles.

BTW, its time to gather Agressor skins Image

Ah, you want to do a Red Flag terrain ? Image I was at Red Flag 00-03 this year at Nellis AFB so I could give you a hand on what things look like down there. If you look at www.f4community.com , the "pic of the week" is a shot of a dutch F-16A MLU which I took at the ramp of Nellis AFB, during a Red Flag.

I just looked at your site.. Screenshots look very promising. Image

Just a few minor notes on the "plane list" at your site. First, F-14's rarely take part in a Red Flag, eventhough F/A-18s do "pop up" at times. However usually there's a "Air Warrior" excersize going on at the same time as a Red Flag. Unlike the name states, Air Warrior is actually an Army excersize and usually the A-10s and F/A-18s take part in Air Warrior, not in the Red Flag.

Note that during the Red Flag, I saw almost no Weapon School A-10s (WA coded) flying sorties. The only A-10s that were flying were the A-10s from Pope AFB (FT coded) and those were there solely for Air Warrior. The only Weapon School (WA) aircraft that were flying Red Flag sorties were F-15Cs, F-15Es and F-16Cs.

The F-5E is only used by the USN (NAS Fallon) and USMC (MCAS Yuma) as an aggressor aircraft. These are not used during the Red Flag held at Nellis AFB. The 414th CTS, based at Nellis AFB, operate their camoflaged F-16s (WA coded) as aggressors.

Also the only helicopters at Nellis AFB are the HH-60s (CSAR version of the UH-60 with inflight refueling boom, IR and radar and optionally doorgunners) of the local stationed RQS unit.

Don't for the E-3A or E-3B AWACS. The sort aircraft out is the AWACS and its also the last aircraft in. Also used during Red Flag are B-52s, though I havent seen any F-117s taking part.

Incredible! Com_gp!
Now I learn many theater fans work underground Image
my 2c here:
first, I note you create many skin..some probably from Janes USAF/IAF?
Second, the desert tiles got a natural, realistic looking, very smooth, really. where you got them? you should post pic links directly on this thread!!
third, white dotting probably due to occupying some colors of lights. I think we need a sample tile to examine its palette.
and fourth, Excellent, Excellent, the desert looks so photo-realistic...or you use sat pic for them? Image Image

THANKS, hey, Tazz, I already have your F16AM set as my wallpaper, i was checking the new Mig29 Mod when i noticed there was a god photo as the pic of the week, i have to do a better web page, still working on it but first i have to do the terrain, i would apreciate your help, Tazz, i ll take note about the f14 and the air warrior combat, also about all planes you tell me are there.
The skins are taken mostly from USAF but i think they are the coolest and the best, the only one i did totaly was the RF-4C Phantom II taked from a lateral picture, scaned and edited to be like the real one.
The tiles are made in two ways, many of them (still working on them a lot) where taken from Flight Simulator for windows 95 (All the LAS VEGAS area is photorealistic) at 1024x768 with a program to capture the screens, then i create a 16 million colors picture in which i create 128x128 scuares inside of it where i paste the pieces of the photorealistic file done before.
I edit all the scuares and when all of them are finished i convert the picture to a 256 color. Then save all the 128x128 scuares with the "copy to" order in files like H*.pcx, so all of them use the same colors palete, HOPE YOU UNDERSTARND ME Image its a little confusing.
The other way of "creating" desert textures is a little tricky.
As I learned the opposite color of green is brown, so if you take all the files in the original texture.zip (the one in falcon 4.0 CD) and convert all of them to negative (with a bach conversion, i use Irfanview) you will have a kind of a red desert tiles, you can "play" with the brightnes and contrast and you will have a cool desert tiles, HFARMD*.pcx and HCITY*.pcx and many mone dont work really well, they will be kind of purple, so they are not very cool, It's a fast and easy way of creating desert (or Colorado Canyon as I wanted) tiles.
You can get INFANVIEW at http://www.irfanview.com/ , it is a pretty cool program with a really good batch conversion, anyway, this is the process.

Looks very good those tiles, Perhaps I ought to dive into some Europe FS2000 scenery as well!

I can give you a list of all aircraft present during Red Flag and scan more slides for you if you want? The problem that might arise is that there are more different F-16s at Nellis AFB during a Red Flag than you can "skin" in Falcon 4.0.

When I was there I saw the following F-16's:

Royal Netherlands Air Force
Royal Norwegian Air Force
Belgium Air Force
Portuguese Air Force

Moody AFB (2 squadrons, MY coded)
Hill AFB (2 squadrons, HL coded)

Ohio ANG (OH)
Indiana ANG (TH)
Alabama ANG (AL)

414th Aggressor Squadron (WA, camo)
Weapon School (WA, regular)
Test Squadron (OT)

This is an average representation of F-16s found at Nellis during a Red Flag. Squadrons change but the number of different units is about right.

Tazz, you may also want to look at the Original CFS textures, many think they are better than FS2000. Many Custom textures for both have been released the past year also....for FS2000 lots of improved Euro Textures (go to www.flightsim.com and use the scenery search function, have to be a member but its free.) For CFS we have a bunch of new textures for Italy (Italy was not included in CFS from MS) as well as Winter and Fall replacement textures for all of Europe (we have a season switch now for CFS). If you have any questions contact me or visit the site below, I have a Scenery Forum there that is moderated and monitered by some of the best in the MSFS world. Flying over hilly tree filled snowy terrain is awesome!

Com_GP, you may want to check out FS2000 desert and CFS2 Island...they have some pretty good textures for dry areas.....

I'm also a long time user of Irfanview...fantastic tool and has never crashed! Love the Batch conversion feature!

I have just tried out INFANVIEW, it processes the files (tiles) in batch just ok and pretty quick. However it doesnt do automatically "single click" style everything, if we compare it to the runtiles (lame) system I have put together, you are required to do lot of things.

If you use runtiles, you just need to have two things: H* tiles and fartile palette .pcx file (xfartile.pcx). Then you run the .bat file and its done.

Yes some people may wonder about all the 4dos for loop things and such, but it should work ok when unzipped to a dir with H tiles and the fartile, it does for me at least.

But if I missed some other cool features of INFANVIEW which could get us closer to the "one click" show, please let me know.

Yeah, I think you are right, your runtiles are pretty good and I use them for doing M*, L* antd T* tiles, but the only problem i see in them is that they are really slow, when i process 1000 tiles it takes about an hour in a 400 mhz, anyway, this does not matter, i only have done this a couple of times, I use irfanview for example, if i dont like the tiles because they are to brightness, then i do a batch conversion with less brightness or more contrast, anyway, i send three pics of the Lake mead, near from Las Vegas

Wow, looks even better than my terrain Image I used converted Novalogic F-16 game tiles for my terrain, but I see your USAF tiles represent the Middle East much better. ComGP, would you mind sending me some of the tiles so I can use them to rework some of my tiles? Seeing that I don't have Janes USAF, this is the only way. All I need is some templates of the desert sand types from USAF and some cities/mountains. Using this I can create hundreds of new tiles.

Thats cool with me, the only thing i ask you to do is please, edit them, im not talking about doing a total new stuff, im just talking about editing the tiles a little, this is because if we all use the exactly same tiles it ll be like flying the same place with different mountains, that wont be cool, i will send you some tiles of the desert, many photorealistic pictures of desert and also a couple of pics from USAF, just give some time, i have to work and do many things, maybe in a couple of days, tell me which mail do you want it to be posted, your profile mail?, this tiles are not taken directly from USAF, actually, i almost have done them totally, the water is done by me, i took the colors just trying it many times, the total set for coast is about 40 tiles (to do them more smooth and not so zig-zag like in the original falcon), still have to do a lot of work on tiles and the free time is not my best quality, so the first beta will have to wait for a while, so far away this is all i have done.

The only tiles I need are the ones for Farmland, and the ones for the desert sand in your pic that is yellow and bumpy, and that is all Image Our mountains are totally different from the small nevada mountains. Instead, ours are like huge chunks of stone rising from the ground and so their surfaces wont be close to as polished and smooth as yours. We are going to have really rugged mountains of huge rocks instead Image

Hehe Basil, finally you come to this thread Image

Yes, all you aggressor viper skins are used in Theater Skin Pack for Nevada theater!
(Credit is given accordingly to various authors)
At present Nevada theater is in early stage. so i cant enable all aggressor skins flying simultaneously in one TE/campaign. I just sort them into Dogfight mode skins.
Once Balkans v1 out, we'll follow their experience to duplicate/add CT records to enable Various Viper aggressors in one TE/Campaign...dont forget i got 10+ F5E aggressors there...hehe, thats my dream too Image

Hehe, I do have it, I just didn't realize there was a new version, great work! Just downloaded it and it looks good. Actual aircraft numbers if you care, there were 6 total at Red Flag 00-01:
29+XX (+ being the German Cross)
29+02 had the fake cockpit and intakes
I'm trying to get/make all of the squardons tailart from Red Flag 00-01. Here's who was there:
Red Air
F-16C 308 FS, 309 FS (part of the 56th FW from Luke AFB)
F-16C/D 414th CTS (thats taken care of with the F-16 Agggressor skins)
MiG-29 JG 73(done unless if we want to change the plane number)

Blue Air
F-15C 18th FW's 44th FS from Kadena Japan
F-16C 138th FS ANG from New York
F-16C 122nd FW's 163rd FS ANG from Indiana (I've done this already with the 122nd FW tailart, my home town wing)
F-16C 194th FS ANG from California
F-4F JG 73 Laage, Germany
F-15E 48th FW's 492nd FS from Lakenheath England
F-16C 428th FS From Cannon AFB
A-10A 354th FS from Davis Monthan AFB
F-16CJ 52nd FW's 22nd FS from Spangdahlem
EA-6B VAQ-128th from NAS Whidbey Island, Washington
EC-130H 355th's 43rd ECS from Davis Monthan AFB
C-17A 437th AW from Charleston AFB (no C-17s in Falcon)
C.Mk1 (C-130) RAF from Wiltshire, England
KC-135 92nd ARW from Fairchild AFB
E-3 552nd ACW's 964th AACS from Tinker AFB

That should keep me (us) busy!

wow, what a list!
Once Jerry free after June 18, Nevada theater got a good chance to add its CT records!
With LODappend and Texappend, new CT record could easily handle various skinned F5, F16, etc.
This amazing evolution also creates the demand for tons of skins, for re-mapped, asymmetrical camoed a/c!!
