With PS you can easily "select all" then file/new, use the default settings then hit paste. It will make a new image with the exact size but using the default RGB mode.

Sherlock, when we spoke on Frugals I understood you to say that people were working on most/all the remaining tiles needed for ODS, but if you need any help on these please let me know. :)

Wayne,
go to the very first post in this thread and you will see the remaining airbase tiles needing to be done. There are still a few left. Pick one (or all!) and post here what you want to do. Read through the thread to get an idea of what others have done/are doing to make theirs. Then go for it! :) I will update the first post to assign whatever you choose to do.

thanks for helping!

There are still some outstanding airbase tiles in the first post (including my 11_29 arable land airbase tiles which I am still working on as time allows).

I am just wondering if the following folks have already sent their tiles into Snake Man and not to me (so I don't know about them) OR they never finished them? Please let me know so I can update the post by saying they are done and into Snake Man or I can take your name off the list so they can be done by someone else OR if you are still working on them and plan to finish them then let me know that as well...

I show the following folks still have airbase tiles outstanding:

Sherlock (me) has the 11_29 AB to Arable Land tiles

Kicker has the 11_29 AB to Irrigated Farm tiles

87th_Striker has the North-South Airstrip to Rough Grazing tiles

87th_Striker has the East-West Airstrip to Rough Grazing tiles (Note: These are just the North-South Airstrip to RG tiles above rotated 90 degrees!)

kai87th has the 01_19 AB to Arable Land tiles

SUBS17 has the GEN AFB/36_18 AB to Desert tiles

thanks!

I checked my ODS dev dir and there is no such airbase tile packages present, so I'd say I have not received them.

Glad it was not invane to date. If ODS ever reaches 1.0 I promise I'll reinstall f4, rejoin the 87th and redo the FPE (or whatever it was called)!

just out of curiousity KG I've got two questions:

1. Which trees are you referring to? Palm trees perhaps? (I haven't seen any different trees in ODS so I'm kinda wondering what happened to them....? Or, maybe, I'm just not that observant! :) )
2. Do you (or someone you know) still have the original ODS tiles in .psd or .bmp format?

thanks!

hehe don't cheat :D 1.0 means 1.0 by usual snake man standards *g*.

Sherlock I was just referring to the pastures "texture" trees, not 3d objects...
I don't think i have much left ion my harddisk but i'll take a look. I had tons of iraq sat pics where we took the textures from.
I'll take a look when i'm back in munich...

Thx Khronik,
that will help to get through the palette problem you described to me. I'll take a look at that asap. Thanks again!

Any of you other folks (mentioned in my post above) got your tiles done yet? Please email to SM or myself (or both) so we can move ahead with these. Thanks!

SM,
I've emailed you the 11_29 Arable Land Airbase tiles and marked my name off the list at the beginning of this thread.

I'm showing these are still the assigned tiles that remain outstanding:

Kicker has the 11_29 AB to Irrigated Farm tiles

87th_Striker has the North-South Airstrip to Rough Grazing tiles

87th_Striker has the East-West Airstrip to Rough Grazing tiles (Note: These are just the North-South Airstrip to RG tiles above rotated 90 degrees!)

Hmm perhaps, the jury is still out on that. I'm not sure because we already have all the terrain types covered by the old school ODS 512 tile gang in the first place. I dont recall them skipping any terrain types.

Unless I didn't understand what you mean, but right now we have desert, grazing, rough grazing, irrigated farmland, arable land and citys. Then some stuff for the mountains which is in old 128 res poor quality tiles. If you meant to replace those, then the tile-sets are already done with features and no adding of tile-sets need to be done. What did you mean exactly?
I finally found an answer for your question Snake Man. The Permanent crops type of land has not been done yet for ODS / IRAN. It was not addressed originally and the CATE script that lays down the different types of land tiles uses arable land in place of permanent crop land. This would be one land type we need to address, but I was looking at adding some of the Nevada tiles as sub-types to Desert, pasture and rough grazing just to provide some more variability in the landscape as the miles and miles of the same tiles is quite boring to look at IMHO.

Thoughts?

I dont even go there with "looks boring" hehe. But what do you mean by subtypes? You want to merge nevada qaz tiles with the main ODS desert type?

In a manner of speaking, yes. Instead of just having one type of desert tile we could have two or three. These different tiles could be used to form some variation in the desert areas so to add different colors and formations. Same could be done for rock tiles, etc.

Ah okay so just to clear it up, it would be just variation tiles, not like all roads, rivers, transitions and junk done again, is that what you're after here?

Yes. I don't think we could afford the tile sets "hit" to do the others; we would exceed the 256 sets limit. So just adding some variation to the desert, arable land (especially this!) and mountainous landscape. We would, however, need some transition tiles to go from one type of Desert tile to the 2nd type cleanly (as well as the other land types).
