Next are the whole campaign theater map. Now remember, this is 128 x 128 segments (Korea is 64 x 64 segments).

I havent added ground units yet. Scale of the war is Desert Storm, meaning squadrons at Saudi bases are attacking Iraq.

Only problem at this point is that the heavy bomber squadrons in the farthest of souther Saudi dont schedule flights. Have I screwed up the campaign file, is PAK somehow bugging or does F4 camp engine think that these planes cannot reach targets and back with onboard fuel (stange for B52's). Note: campaign engine DONT know how to do air-refuelling unfortunately.

I'll try to figure out that out next.

This is example of my F-16C campaign flight (ok edited waypoints myself).

Image

Notice the range between each waypoint, I flew the whole missions with extra fueltanks. When landing to Riyadh the extra tanks were dry and fuel indicator was about 1000-1300 fuel left. So with human flights its totally possible to fly missions even without refuelling from far away bases. Looks good.

Now if we just get AI flights to do air-refuellings... Image

This looks totally AWESOME - I could get stuck in this campaign for a very long time!
I wanna go back to Basra Road, and re-do the "Total Carnage" scene we shot up there.
We made a real mess of them up there, but I bet with a little planning we could block it off before they get there at all this time - then we can talk serious turkey shoot time!

how about editing the fuel capacity of b52 with f4browse?
double or triple its fuel, reduce b52 dry weight to minimal, or edit the fuel consumption rate, etc, to see if cam engine schedule the flight.

The internal fuel capacity is hardcoded to ~ 80,000 lbs.

This is being researched so a future version should allow this to be increased.

Another screenie from 128 Campaign testings.

I tested if that Rabigh airbase way down south in Saudi Arabia was "too far" from the enemy lines for Campaign engine to schedule flights... well it works at least with Support flights of Air Lift. See those C-130'h coming.

Okay I have done more testing with the campaign and it feels like there could be something wrong with the engine. Of course the campaign file itself could be corrupt somehow, but thats something I havent discovered. More testing, more thinking Image

Anyways, I have now added the carrier fleets. Here are couple of latest images of the action.

Snake,
Are you using an ATO from Desert Storm or are you compiling basically random missions of the same "style" of air warfare?

I used to have info on the actual non classified missions..found it on the web somewhere..I'll see if I can dig it up.

I know that you can still get the weapons sites on the web that were targeted by the coalition..it even lists their map reference and dates of attack.

Try this link..it has a VERY detailed description day by day of the tasking, as well as deployment assets etc.. should be useful if you don't already have it.

I was onboard Ranger when it was in Sydney just after the Gulf War... If its the trip I remember, went down with a heap of RAAF guys and got a cool tour of the boat... I'll see if i can dig the pics up... :)

I also got a HEAP of squadron crests and patches....

This campaign is now with the New ODS 128 objectives, which are imported from the already released ODS theater. This means that all the targets you can see on the ODS BETA v0.1 (available from download section) can be found on correct locations in this larger 128 theater map.

:)

Also there was AH-1 cobras on OCA missions about hundred miles to Iraq, so we have even helo action. Looking good!

Those objectives were placed by Village util. Also lot of other objectives have been placed manually to the ODS BETA v0.1 which are now included in this 128 theater.
