I´ll keep the CTRL-Z L in mind.
The Tacedit is always the newest version available.......
Not a bad idea with the BMP. I´ll see what I can do and I´ll give you a short feedback concerning this.
BTW, anything special you want me to look for ? I believe most items are already known.

Well try to get more detailed locations using coordinates (the CTRL-Z L command) + screenshots of the bugs and errors you see.

ODS v0.4 beta preview 13 has been "released" to the beta testers.
However there will be no public links of it.
If you really want to test it, and I do mean REALLY want to... then contact me.
Please if you ask the installer, be ready to provide thorough feedback of bugreports, comments and whatever. This release is out just for beta testing purposes, thats all.

BTW, the loadouts are correct. So, apparently I´m running the proper version.

Attention ODS beta testers!
We have set up beta testing grid "killboxes" for the testers to use. This means that all the testers arent always flying the same Al Ahsa - Kuwait route back and forth, but we can spread the beta testing power to larger area much like the tiling coordination back in good old times.
So if you are ODS beta tester, please contact me and we'll assign you a beta-bughunt-killbox.

Hi guys I’m new beta tester and nice to meet you all.
This is what I noticed so far:
In UI on map options there are no threat circles (ADA low, ADA high, Radar low, Radar high)
There are only AIM-9M and AIM9P in the theater
Taxiway and the runway are shivering when taxiing (shivering is quiet rough and noticable)
I can see through the truck next to AA gun
Helicopter Gazelle showed as a plane on UI-map

Hi guys
Here's what I found.
When setting avionics to easy mode then you will see your jet on the kneemap. I think that is very useful when testing the theaters. It allows you to visualy see where you are so you don't have to cross your grid lines.Also you can be sure where you have been flying(suppose you don't fly the whole grid at once).

Ok, Here is my Newbie test so far (1 hour).
Install:
Faultless on AMD 1.7Ghz with 394Ram, voodoo5 and Santa Cruz sound card - quick and painless.
Instant Action:
Both on Fighter sweep and Mud moving, no faults in performance or access, no CTD's, tried several selection points on map, no issues. (scenery is looking good).
Campaign:
On all three campaign I had trouble in getting any ATO's at all.
Tried various squadrons in all three campaigns, with default mission and PAK settings, and also with manually created ones. Only got one mission even after running campagn at X4 for 10 hours. Is this to be expected?
Will try again tonight and will start looking around my designated area H5.

Sorry snake-man. I was a bit busy trying to set up a second PC that I haven't really played any games for somewhile now. But i am back and willing to test the theater. It's nice to see that there have been so many reports from testers of the theater.

Thought, 2 things really, since we're going back over there in Iraq, can a campaign be made to represent this? have lots of SEADs, and those types of missions. most of Shaw is there already, and the 77th left Thurs evening, (go gettum boys!) so there are a few SQ's there. Also for the real ODS, how about using the BLK 30's as the main, B/C the 40 was starting to be in service towards the end of it, and the CJ wasnt made yet.

Ive talked to my Wing, the 20th cause in RL our guys are over there, but they didnt think it was reliable cause its beta. Can a newer one be released that has the newer stuff in it?

KG's gang is doing good job with the new 512 res terrain textures.
HomeBoy and Ratty did/does awesome job linking the remaining objectives and even adding some new juicy targets.
Beta testers have produced nice load of reports to me which I'm very grateful. I'd say most of the major "showstopper" bugs has been discovered.
I've done couple of database edits to bring in bit more historical realism and hopefully better tasking (remains to be seen).
Also I've fixed month(s) ago tons of the CATE autotiling errors and hopefully most of the important airbase background tiles are fixed now.
When is the next beta due? err I dont know, it would be so cool to get something new ODS stuff before military operations commence in Iraq, but we must wait until we have enough fixes in.

I had all my files copied to a CD, and that saved me a lot of time of watching the files. If something happens like your problems, i put the CD and copy the files. You should try it, it is very useful, trust me.

I've burned my files on cd, too. I did that because it's very irritating to download every >10Mb file from net with 56k modem after formating of HD.

The first problem i had with the theater was a problem with the F-16 skin. I had viperwear skins before, and although removing them, still created problems with the skin. The tail and wings are of the DS F-16 where as the nose and the "back" are from the other F-16 skin. Do you know how i can fix that? Another problem was that when I started the campaign the map was black and I could not enter my name in any of the missions. And I havent't yet started playing the campaign itself!! I must tell you that the DS theater has also modified Korean theaters as you can see(black map) and I cannot enter any mission as well. So I must re-install F4 again.

Hello guys. I noticed this thing when I was playing the new theater. The pictures below are they supposed to be showing roads or river, no offense to the disigner but they look like barbed wires.I believe that these roads need redesigning
Also another thing that I noticed is that it seems that there are no buildings in Iraq. The screenshot i took proves that. I know that there is desert in Iraq(i think anyway) but would a war take place in the desert? I mean that there is nothing to attack in the desert!

THere is no effort invested in fixing old low res tiles in first place.
About those tiles they represent dry river beds afaik - problem in f4 is the tile system that will give no diagonal but the fence style rivers and roads. It may not be visible in Korea as there is much Tile diversity per area - but in ODS and its size it will appear this way.
Don't know about objectives but of course i'd like to see as many objects as possible and reasonble in non deserted areas..

Just to let you guys know
The theater objectives linking has now been completed! This is my previous (last year) work and recent work from HomeBoy and Ratty.
I'd like to thank HomeBoy and Ratty for their great help, it is much appreciated guys - Thank You!
If there would only be more people like these guys helping us out, we would not be posting anymore betas I tell you that much right now.
If all fails, I could put out next beta with completely linked objectives and new terrain tiling fixes in the CATE conf files and new terrain tiles (still old 128 res but new since v0.4b prev 13) where lot of airbase backgrounds are fixed and tons of other tiling errors.
We'll see.

Sounds like your "AWACS Background" .f4p is selected. Check the Config Editor under 'Settings General" or some such...quote:Originally posted by Butcher_ss:

Hi everybody. I'm Flyingwolf an italian ODS 0.4 betatester. I'm really proud of being a member of PMC TFW's betatesters team. I hope my help will be usefull to you all...
I begin posting here with a "live" bug report after a mission in ODS 1991 campaign .
I was trying to test some carrier take-offs and so i've joined the 151st squadron which flies on F18s. I've chosen the type of works i'd like to do and so i've started campaign... i've waited for the first tasked flight. T'was a BARCAP but when this flight appeared to me i was unable to chose my plane becouse the green-planes were missing on tha screen... i've tryied to save the campaign and to exit Falcon and run it again but anything different happened. I've tryied to turn off my pc and to turn it on again but that wasn't a good idea... I've flown the mission anyway because i was the "default leader" of the first PACKAGE.
That's all.

You are describing the same problem i had, does your screen look like the screenshot i placed above? It should be like tha one above except that it should be an Iraq map instead of a Korean map.

Negative answer Butcher... my screen is different... My F18 campaign begins tasking missions but when the mission appears in the screen i get no GREEN-PLANES... those u must click on to choose leader or wingman position.
So i'm always a leader in ODS!!!
The other side of the problem is that i've to wait other package to land and disappear to join a mission that's not first in the tasking list!!!! That's the real problem and i'm unable to resolve it!!!

- F/A-18A icon on mission window is not visible, cannot select wingman position.
This is SP3 data bug, there is nothing you can do about it until F4UT data/icon guys fix and release a fix for it.
Also odsbeta page is created so that you guys dont need to report already known bugs/issues in the release.
