Tanker too far from the path

Post by 101st_Pegasus » 2002-07-23 20:13:00

Hi,

What a great theather....One million thanks to the team...

One point maybe I miss somthing;
I select Incirlik AB, 3rd Sq. F4E. First mission was an OCA, the steering point for refuel is at 300+ miles south of my path but the home plate is 200 miles west. Is it a bug or do I miss something?

I changed the steerpoint to a place on my path (hoping that AI will arrange a tanker to the point) but no joy...I had to land to divert field (Diyarbakir AB)

Any idea?

Thanks,

There is no tanker support in Turkey so they send you flying over Iraqi airspace into Saudi Arabia to refuel

I'll add some tankers to the Turkey bases and see what happens.

For now you'll just have to without tankers from Turkey.

Snake Man,

ODS is great! Thanks so much to make me fly from my country and strike the "Evil" ;)

I can wait till you add some tankers to Turkey and make my landings to Diyarbakir AB during that preiod...

BTW I have a friend (a real Viper driver) in TAF in Diyarbakir AB, is it possible to add Turkish squadrons to the theater? (I can apply the Turkish skins over USAF one's individually, no problem. It can be only the squadron names and patches etc.) If it's possible and you need any data about it please contact me at harunpekdemir@hotmail.com

What suggestions would you have to terrain tiles for Turkey? I believe its pretty much the light brown mountain now in the current tileset...

Was there activity in that base during ODS?

Hmm technically sure, but the current list is what I received from Red Dog about the squadrons, please fill in any details if you got them?

no, i dont favor adding non-ODS related Sq there.
if you add Turkish f16 sq, you probably have to add all sq of IAF f16! We'd better keep campaign slim--only add those involved in operation:

**must-have: fly directly into hostile territories. supporters to this class.
**better-have: play key part in joint offensive operation.
**better-leave-it-alone: those only fly regional airdefense/far away from hot zone. or never seen involved in historical ODS.

Not to hammer somebody's wish but..i'd recommend adding Turkish viper sq when they are "must-have". Or a short tutorial telling them how to add Sq in their very own ODS campaign.

I agree with CCC. It seems like there are still some lessons to be learned in 128x128 theaters, so I think we should take it kinda slow. Of course, having people modify their own campaigns and tell us what happened is a good thing! :)

CCC, not hammered at all :) . I don't think that any TAF a/c joined the ODS active but I'll ask some people...Your comments are correct and the suggestion is good (tutarial thing).

Snake Man,

No activity in the base, except me and my wingy...

I don't know anything about tiles. Is it useful if I look for some photographs of the area? And what sort of photos you may use, should it be only satelite type photos?

Thanks for the replies,

No need to know.

Yes! that would be great.

Best would be satellite photos, but any "long range" view photos you can take will do.

If you photograph your backyard lawn in .5 feet away is not good ;)
