RV install works smoothly.

historical Vnam, first the the third campaigns, can not select sqadrons. only the second one(save1.cam?) is selectable.

also i found F-4E on carrier wing, and some A-6 located in Tailand.

all three campaigns in ficitional vnam are ok.

the mig17/19 sq did not generate flights in save1.cam.

tho AG ordance has been removed, you probably missed one edit - change sqadron/flight missione score.

fire up f4browse, go to J5 or other red ac, you'll find it has one flight unit and one squadron unit, double click them, check [ role scores] .. they have high scores in CAS or strat bomb missione. change them to 0, and give high scores to CAP.

i edit the missione score of j5 and mig19, now they got AA missions only.. AFAIK, some edits like fighter AI. falcon4.aii? and mission profile in ac.dat should be edited, for better performance.

mig21 bis, its not used in vnam. better replaced with mig21F, PF, and MF.

navy phantoms, used F-4B for earlier stage of war, and F-4J for late stage.

more ac type and sq on carrier wing would be great.

Those above are all obsolete bugs from SPx times, right?
ccc wrote:historical Vnam, first the the third campaigns, can not select sqadrons.
Because the campaigns doesn't exist. I have no idea what stuff to add there.
also i found F-4E on carrier wing, and some A-6 located in Tailand.
Okay thats Thakli with this setup...

Our campaign:
3 FIGHTER_F4ESK
2 ATTACK_A6E
4 ATTACK_F105D

Historical data:
# EB-66 USAF 41 TEWS, 355 TFWg Takhli
# F-105D USAF 357 TFSq, 355 TFWg Takhli
# RB-66 USAF 42 TEWSq, 355 TFWg Takhli
# F-4D USAF 8 TFSq, 49 TFWg Takhli
# F-105D USAF 354 TFSq, 355 TFWg Takhli
# F-105D USAF 333 TFSq, 355 TFWg Takhli
# F-4D USAF 9 TFSq, 49 TFWg Takhli
# F-4D USAF 7 TFSq, 49 TFWg Takhli
# F-105D USAF 44 TFSq, 355 TFWg Takhli

So I added them there to simulate the EB/RB-66's. Or was that a total mistake?

Also they are located in PHU CAT airbase, but that must be a mistake on my part because the historical data says otherwise.

Our campaign:
4 FIGHTER_F4ESK
2 ATTACK_A6E

Historical data:
# C-47 USAF 5 SOS, 14 SOW Phu Cat
# F-100D/F USAF 612 TFS, 37 TFW Phu Cat
# F-100D/F USAF 355 TFS, 37 TFW Phu Cat
# F-4D USAF 480 TFS, 37 TFW Phu Cat
# F-4D USAF 389 TFS, 37 TFW Phu Cat
# F-100D/F USAF 416 TFS, 37 TFW Phu Cat
# F-100D/F USAF 174 TFS, 37 TFW Phu Cat
# F-4D USAF 480 TFSq, 12 TFWg Phu Cat
# EC-47 USAF 361 TEWSq, 14 SOWg Phu Cat
# F-4D USAF 389 TFSq, 12 TFWg Phu Cat

Apparently missing the F-100D squadrons there too, just added them now into the script so they will be fixed.
more ac type and sq on carrier wing would be great.
What kind of aircrafts and how many squadrons?

i think RV database has F-4D model.

for EB-66, you may use EA-6B instead.. for pure ECM/ESM missions. if you add A-6, they'll do strike missions.

it's Day 2 now - blue side posture is offensive - yet nobody move north.
IIRC SP version suffered from this bug too.. blue ground units refused to advance north..
in contrast, ODS128 desert storm campaign/SP version, is the only PMC mod i ever win the war by capturing kuwait city. lots ground units moving north in that campaign.

as for air war, i rise the priority of honai area - ya some pak is outsdie clickable map.. and AI generates more sorties over Honai..
i found 50-80 blue ac attacking Honai area, from several airbases and carrier, cool, red also scrambles some intercept flights.. all gathering over that hot zone.. very impressive.

if possible, add some red infantry or special op units behind FLOT, simulating VC assult. sure, make them show up as reinforcement, at irregular intervals.

As CCC mention before campaigns 1,3 are not working
At Bien Hoa F-100 and Pleiku airbase A-1h are unavailable.

Could you add:
.More buildings or houses in the city, village.
.Chopper UH-1, CH-47, AH-1, ...
.F5 squadron...
.AAA, AK-47 for VC

its Day4. blue gound force did not make any advance. air war AI generates much less flights as most targets destroyed.

some PAK areas have not been hit since day1, due to pak map bug/ can not rise their priority value.

i've to say the ground war is quit static... obj link issue?

You can use the drop down menu to select PAK area by number and name.

I dont know.

In RV the UI is default, meaning the news blips map is not working.
and 128 iran, afghanstan - also works.

in JSTAR map, i found Lao, combodia, parts of tailand and malaysia are marked with red dots/units belong to red side.. would it cause confusion to campaign AI?

Hehe falcon engine could not care less what the JSTARS.tga says :D

Anyways, perhaps the image is scaled wrong, could you take a screenshot and mark the areas you seem to be in wrong positions?

fly A6 into north vnam, very low alt.. still caught by SA-8 in historical campaign... better remove this deadly SAM from the unit.

btw please check obj link at blue-red border.. i found blue armor units can't move north even no enemies on their way. they just moved to and fro along a short distance from day1 to day6. i aslo tried to order them to capture one red town, move target circle every 5 campaign hours at 16x compression, no success..

Hmm okay. I think RV wont scale the theater news blip map size, so it wont work unless we make it large as seen in ODS AF for example.

At Marble Mountain Airbase the tiles are the same as CCC shot. The tiles seem not too good align along the coast. You can see very clear the line between two tiles as CCC shot.
Bien Hoa Airbase spell is not correct.

stations.dat file is from default korea theater. ATC doesn't work at the 2-3 bases we've taken off from or returned to because of this.

Fictional #2 (Save0.Cam) Modern Campaign Bugs

Post by Sherlock » 2007-09-29 16:59:01

Amount of blue aircraft is way too many. We are currently in the early hours of Day 2 (about 4 am) and North Vietnam airbases have all been shut down since early afternoon of Day 1. Only a few Su-24Ms were able to fly in the late evening of Day 1 and they, of course, were no match for the F-15s and F-16s that the south was putting up.

Recommend scaling back the number of blue aircraft by at least one-forth and possibly one-third.

Our settings are ACE in Allied Force and this was multiplayer.

More fictional campaign bug reports

Post by Sherlock » 2007-10-06 02:58:58

More bug reports on the fictional scenario:

1. Needs C-130 (and probably AN-24) squadrons added for supply airlift as well as air mobile operations.

2. Needs Blackhawks (UH-60s and MH-60s), CH-47 Chinooks, AH-64 apaches and AH-1 Cobras (Marines) in the scenario. Also, to support air mobile missions in AF, etc. Needs OH-58s Kiowas for recon.

3. Needs a TRI file that will allow blue or red side to win. Current TRI file is stubbed out and no one can win.

4. Towns with name of "NOWHERE" need to be renamed to their correct names.

5. Needs kneemap that shows borders, airports, tacan channels, etc. (all the usual stuff).

so.. no tri files in vnam campaigns? could it be the reason that all ground units won't move during my test?

Could be. We are not experiencing any HQ generated movement either but we are setting the paks manually. I don't know anything about the previous version of Vietnam but this one doesn't look like a 0.9 beta because it's missing all TACAN/ILS stations.dat files (did a previous version have this?) and it has no TRI files that are fleshed out. They are just stubs with only two events: First event sets the tempo of the game and the second event ends the game when gameday 600 is reached. The maps obviously need lots of work also.

I dont understand, you downloaded or installed a wrong version which are you testing now?
I don't think so. The installer file is named:

PMC_Vietnam_Theater_v0.9.exe

That's the latest right?

There was only one Than Hoa bridge in North Vietnam yet the theater OOB lists 5 total. The bridge in the theater is a single span bridge while the real one was a 2 span bridge (see this artists rendering: http://www.baileyprints.com/prints/dragon-slayers.html )

Here is the wiki background on this bridge if interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanh_Hoa_Bridge

Edit: Also, here a tactical map of the bridge for additional info: http://www.rjsmith.com/Thanh-Hoa-Bridge.html

Cheers!
