Re: Oops! TK's working on a Vnam sim
Yea, i saw this last night.
They probably ought to market it as a phantom sim
but have a working vietnam campaign.
All of us here own other flight sims, correct?
So if it's good, i'll buy it,but i'm sure glad we have
snakeman's nam theater for F4
The other thing was that TK said he will allow the sim to be modified by the users.

If he is smart, he'll tap into the talent floating around F4 and get them to make his authentic free upgrades for him. The RPG has the stuff to make his sim superb. If not, Snakeman's F4 Nam thing may be better than Third Wire's.

Re: Oops! TK's working on a Vnam sim
I read the article again,
I think TK's goal is to have a very active,
vibrant sim community. He achieves this by letting the community modify and create
new theaters, models, ect... All the stuff
the EAW and F4 communitys are doing right now.
That's kinda cool radical IMO.

Agree.
after second thought, i think TK's new sim will take years to mature. and need serious involvement from mod-makers too. they are obviously short of manpower to release a complete sim in the final release.
so, Falcon4.0+mods' propbably the jet sim killer.

Re: Oops! TK's working on a Vnam sim
F4=sim killer...yea I kinda agree..flight simmers are a different breed than first person shooters. If we find something that is like F4, we stick with it for years.
Flight sims should cost more since they cost more to make. Perhaps we are entering a new generation of flight sims..open type...I like it...I sincerely hope it works. If the programmers provide enough flexibility for the 3rd party gurus to make things happen, it could be a stunning development.

This was neat to read, but I'll believe it when I see it on the shelves... remember these folks?

Re: Oops! TK's working on a Vnam sim
agree, Jim.
New sims indeed take years to mature. TK provides us a dream, but it will need mod-makers to complete it, then satisfy all players years later.
I'd like stick to f4, once 3d hacking available, we could have almost everything already.
Hamm..Im really drooling at that box art...we should have it years ago, right?

yeah, It was pasted together as a joke, I think by the other HAM at simhq, (but don't quote me on that.) When I first saw it my heart skipped a beat.

Re: Oops! TK's working on a Vnam sim
Well think about it..everytime we make a new sim, we reinvent the wheel. How many times do we have to write code for a SA-2? An SA-2 is an SA-2...if it has good AI parameters, then use it over and over. If the SA-2 in F4 is realistic, then what more could we ask for? This is where someone in the sim industry needs to head if they want to make $$..I really believe the market is there, but it needs to be very flexible. Just think if someone could create a sim that would appeal to all of the EAW/F4/JF18/MSCS/other sim fans? Of course we are talking about eventual court problems because it would dominate the flight sim market!
