Question:
What's the timeframe of the terrain?
Sea conflict or modern?
I need to know for a correct list of airbases.
Anyone with a good knowledge of airbases available in Vietnam on the NVAF side.
So far, here are the ones I know of for the US side:
Bien Hoa
Cam Ranh Bay
Da Nang
Hue - PHU BAI (Airstrip)
Nha Trang
Phan Rang
Phu Cat
Pleiku
Quang Ngai
TUY HOA
TAN SHON NUT (supported?)
Quang Tri (supported?)
Korat
NAKHON PHANOM
UBON
UDORN
TAKHLI (supported?)
U TAPAO (supported?)
Cheers

Re: Airbases for Vietnam
Regarding allied bases in the south - I don't see the Marines fighter base at Chu Lai, just 55 miles southeast of Da Nang. At least the F-4 Squadron vmfa-314 black knights were there. Originally they flew out of Da Nang, but in 1965 when the Corps waded ashore at Chu Lai and put in a metal plank airstrip and a land-based catapult called a cataport, (intended to allow phantoms to be based there, but apparently it didn't work well enough)the first squadrons there flew the A-4 Skyhawk. The Skyhawks still needed JATO assisted takeoffs however.
A proper 10,000 ft. runway was completed in late 1966 (I'm guessing at that date- it could be 1967,)because the Marines were flying phantoms out of Chu Lai by 1968.
