Re: fans got hooked...F111 pit in the making?
Oh...but I AM here. I've been watching this board since I discovered the Viet Nam project. And with the Vark influence in there...mmmm...mmmmm...good.
Okay, so here's what I'm envisioning. Given the side by side positioning of the pilot and WSO, I was thinking that viewing to the right once turns the pilot's head once to the right. Doing it again would place you in the WSO's seat, and then any further right looks..whatever..hitting the hat switch, would turn the WSO's head.
Is that possible ya think? Guys? Help here?
I'm just learning at this whole cockpit develpment thing, but I'm awfully interested.

Re: fans got hooked...F111 pit in the making?
is it possible to do actual working cockpits for these planes?
I tried an F4 cockpit but was just a 2D cockpit with no needles that worked or anything. couldn't use the radar cos the OSBs don't work etc - same with all those cockpits I've tried - though I've not tried the B1-B cockpit yet by F4A.

42jeff,
no idea about your concept. it seems like swapping between two sets of 2d +3d pit arts. may cause some hiccups while swapping, i think. better complete the first pit, then work on the WSO, then go figure how to link/swap them.
Mantis,
serious new pits will support needel gauges and radar OSBs. like B1 and Mig29 pits.
it takes some effort to edit them.
As for the F4E 2D pit "borrowed" from J/USAF, surely you wont get all views and functional gauges. got to make a serious one.

Just heard ThudDriver converted a 800x600 workable F111 pit, well done! (though i've not use that resolution for months!)
a serious F111 pit is a must-have, for many theaters! any change to take photos from pilot and WSO positions? (its really hard to figure out the curve line of the canopy frame, etc)

I think an F111 would be outstanding. They ran a lot of missions across Laos. That would really be great if that got off the ground.

Re: fans got hooked...F111 pit in the making?
New cockpits are definately a must
it completely ruines the feel of the game when you are flying something other than a falcon and you see the cockpit of an F16 every time.
Can the avionics of aircraft be simulated?
or are you always stuck with the falcon avionics?
addition of manual flaps and slats would be nice for flying non FBW aircraft

Alright, this pic is for fun only.
Just cant wait a serious one, so build a rough pit to enjoy the feeling in a vark.

Re: fans got hooked...F111 pit in the making?
Snake Man, the pit is very rough, you sure want to fix MFD position?
BTW, like Steve said, there are many f111 variants(and pits), your pic from Dryden are experimetnal a/c, probably far from the Vnam thing.

Re: fans got hooked...F111 pit in the making?
Putting together a working cockpit based on CFS art's relatively easy (for 12:00 view) though right now I'm working on a F5E and C130(mentally ill, I guess).
I'm thinking the 2:00 view will be (for the -111) pretty much from the pilot's perspective. Jumping to the right seat is an interesting idea, possible I think- 12:00 view- pilot's 12:00, 2:00- WSO 12:00 view, 3:00- WS0 3:00, etc. Maybe the 'up' views for the WSO?
Anybody out there old enough to remember 'Flight of the Intruder' (came out between Falcon AT and Falcon 3.0) from Spectrum Holobyte? Two seat views will probably be along those lines.
Anyhow, I'll put the F5E on hold (though it's the one aircraft that seems to be in all campaigns) and start on the 111. Any good (or even bad)cockpit pix, please shoot them to me at jrr007@mailcity.com, no warranty on when I'll get off my lazy &*(^$ and finish...doggone work keeps getting in the way of e-flying.
hmm... maybe the Il-28?

Com_GP,
Incredible shot! seems you r 3d geek too
Thuddriver,
ya, Im quite familiar with that old "the flight of intruder"
remember that ugly red landing gear?
I cant believe Holobyte spectrum release that low-quality product!
did you still keep its manual? there is a dive angle-airspeed table in last pages. great material for reference.
BTW, nice 800x600 vard pit! be sure to upgrade your machine ASAP, 1024x768 is the standard

Okay...our ORI is over and I'm ready to jump in with both feet. I'm thinking about redoing the loadout for the Vark. F4browse right?
I was also thinking....that A model cockpit WOULD be right for the era we're talking about. So...um...just ignore my post about ignoring that A-model photo.

Check out the pix, diagram of a FB-111a pit.
BTW I'll crank my 'pit up to 1024x768, no big deal to do both res. (have to adjust the destinations for the gauges is all).

very nice illustration of fb111 pit!
however the drawing comes from a lower viewpoint, not from the eye-level of pilot.
front canopy viewfidl too small, HUD incomplete.

If you need any help, I'd like to give you a hand. I don't know how much of a help I could be since I haven't a clue as to how to do it...but I'd like to help.
I've revamped the loadout for the -111 for what I remember it being, could anybody tell me how to make it F4patch friendly?

I don't know exactly which files WERE changed. How do I find that out? All I did was changed the munitions available on each weapons station. Added some munitions. Removed three from the GBU-12 slot. Six? I think not.
That's it so far.
