3views? sorry for sounding dense, but you mean drawings or photos from the front, top, sides?

drawings.

i got an idea for modeling vnam-era carriers.

first i need 3-view drawings of current CVN model and other CV models. overlay and compare their differences in size and shape. then use LE to tweak vertices position to fit vnam CVs.

Since current model uses four flat plates as deck polygon, its quite easy to "paint" other deck shape without adding/deleting default vertices. Bridges could be moved forward or backward to fit the new layout.

should be pretty easy to bring up some rough carriers.

Hi ccc
I can provide you side and top drawings (not front) for most ships in service from 1986 on - worldwide. About USN carriers in Vnam era, here is a list of what I have, but pls consider these drawings reflect every modifications to the ships up to 1985, so they can be a bit different from Vnam settings.
- CVN 65 Enterprise (side, top) after 1982
- CV 67 Kennedy (side, top)
- CV 63 Kitty Hawk class (side, top)
- CV 59 Forrestal class (side, top) after SLEP 1981
- CV 41 Midway class (side, top) after 1985
- CV 16 Lexington (side, top).
If you're interested, ask what you like and I'll send them via PM.

Diomedea out.

too bad, my quick-build idea failed.
try to tweak one for Lexington, no success.

Better build from the scratch, use 3ds max.

I usually keep quiet on these 3D XXZXZXZX areas, but that carrier looks good to me.

Of course I have no clue what the original looks like, but if I'm flying falcon and see that... "it looks good".

thanx, i suppose yahoogroup wont let me link pic files any longer :D :D

BTW, that lex sample take me 20-30 minutes, modeling 5+ mins, texture stuff 10+ mins, and the rest on LE for rough test. Apparently lots look-thrus, yet it looks like something, especailly from the stern side approaching for THE THIRD WIRE :D
Bridge is a simple box for the time being.

The overall test is to quick-build some carriers with acceptible visuals, without spending too much effort into details.
