There is Mig-17's taking off from Dong Hoi usually when I'm flying in the area. I don't even have vietnam installed right now so I cannot test but there are few red airfields to choose. Can someone verify what NVNAM squadrons is selectable in the historic campaign?

Haven't flown so much that I know about the rest, it might be that Mig-21's wont schedule flights as they are too far from the FLOT.

I've written this down for my private vietnam buglist text file for later review, thanks for letting me know.

NV mig17 Sq can't be selected.
mig19/21 sq can be selected.

and, why not change NVNAM/SVNAM to NV/SV or NVN/SVN? two or three letters look better. :D

1) One carrier at Dixie Station and three at Yankee sounds right. Dixie Station was like a holiday from Yankee Station for the Naval Aviators, - Day CAS flying, no SAMs, often no AAA... As for Yankee, We're doing a campaign here, and that means an increased tempo of ops on the Yankee Pirates side, right?

As for my webpage, I dunno, I just checked it and CCC didn't have any trouble a couple of days ago. Try getting there without the link: http://www.icrossroads.com/~kcins/utility3.html
my Sam site info page (this link fixed Jan 6,2003)

quote: CCC: so we can set China as hostile side, place some interceptors for minimal BARCAP missions
Yah, but this guy I'm reading now says that the White House was so uptight over the fact that it was CHINA that Rescue & Recovery missions inside of the 12 mile limit around Hainan (which had 3 MIG fields by the way, but I don't know where -yet.)were strictly forboten, and USN cap fighters weren't allowed to engage chicom MIGs either. I read elsewhere that Lymburger Johnson was terrified that China would intervene in NVietnam if provoked, just like they did in Korea. It was a bogus fear, however, because in the late '60's Mao was too busy tearing out his country's guts with the Cultural Revolution. China COULDN'T intervene.

(Sheepish grin) Have finally found the time to load the theatre and WOW!!! :D The UI!

Here's the first bug i've noticed, and it's not a bug so much as in the squadron assignments. We have 3 or 4 squadrons of F4s flying out of Naked Fanny (Nakon PHanom) and although it was used as an emergency landing site for the fast movers, the only aircraft stationed at NKP were the bug mashers: C130s, A-26s, A-1s, C-47s etc... It bugged me to see fighters launching from NKP in the campaign in the RP5/eFalcon version, and it's jarring to see here too...

Likewise, B-52 assignments- the only base that should be launching B52's was U-Tapao. Can we have B-52's entering and exiting the theatre from Guam? :D

Okay removed.

Okay removed those too, but how many squadrons I should add to U-Tapao?
quote:Can we have B-52's entering and exiting the theatre from Guam?
No. (Its unfortunate that we cannot build 256 theater MUHAHAH!) hmm ;)

Only possibility I can think of is to create fictional Guam small piece of land into the far corner of the map (where the flights should come) and place the airbase there.

Sounds good... you could use the southeasternomst corner, put a tiny island there with a really large (2-runway) airport.

The operational Units I have listed at U-Tapao were (from 1967 to 1973) 43rd SW, 4133rd BW(P) initially flying 15, and later as many as 54 B-52Ds by 1972. The crews would fly 2/3rds of their missions from Guam, and then rotate to UT for some shorter, easier duration flying.
Then, in the spring of 72, the B52D units at UT were with the 306th SW. They were the 364th BS (provisional) and the 365th BS (provisional. These two units apparently went non-operational from July 72 to Jan 73- basically during the Linebacker II campaign. During Linebacker II it was the 60th and 63rd BS.

Now that's pretty simple, eh? :D

I think that although they were at two slightly different times, we should use the 4133rd Provisional BW and the 364th & 365th Provisional BS's.

Your right about Yankee Station not being static. You can use 16N/110E and be safe.

Bodybag and I Flew a B-52 mission from U-Tapao and noticed a couple more things
We weren't multiplayer, just flying two sp campaigns at the same time. On his system, there were modern B-52H's in the campaign. As far as I know there were no H model Buffs in SEA.
Secondly, on my system,
- I was flight leader, but 4th in line for takeoff. The other B-52's didn't move, but after sitting there for about 3 minutes, I was given clearance to take off.
But the other Flight in front of me hadn't taken off yet. I rolled off the taxi-way, and around them, and the tower chastised me for confusing the situation down there- "EXPEDITE!"
Then on my takeoff roll, another B-52, (probably an America West Airline pilot) stuck his wing out over the runway in front of me, causing a horrible National Transportation Safety Board investigation.

There shouldnt be any KC-10 A/C.
KC-135 with the old J-79 engines. Smokers and trailers.

Also - Not enuff Mig missions. No -17,-19,
or -21. Come to think of of it, No F-105,
F-4e, Buff-52D missions. F-111 hasent been tried yet.
I know the Mig-17 cant be killed. It also isnt listed in the Tactical eng.
Might be a reason. There is no Buff listed in the MB- Tact. either. The B-1 is there ,
but the B-1 wasnt in service till after VN.
It could have been in service in the late 70's but our Peace loving, commie thinking,
DEMOCRAP prez, named Carter, thought it was prudent to cut it.

Billy Boy cut the F-117 and B-2 funding.
He also sold some RDR info to the Chinese.
Anyone rememberr that Taiwan guy?
He gave Millions to the Clity Campaign thru China. Does anyone care? NO. Why? Because it
degrades the U.S.A.
A Prez that sold his country out. He will be tried for treason. Maybe in the next 20 years. Or 40. But someday History will tell
the truth. And the truth right now is that Clinton sold us out.
May he rest in HELL.

I keep tryin to put my weenie stuff in the
bugs department. I got this site saved.
But alas......... My weeenie stuff still shows up on the open forum. I will try to
do better. After all I am a SAC trained KILLER. I spent 4 years with a the 42nd
BW. 69th BS, 407th ARS, 42nd ARS.

I got a lot a knowledge. I even got to fly a LL over a CLS area. [TS].

So when the Buffs get goin, and the Caimpaigns are right, I want to fly in a Buff wing.

This can be database issue with aicraft ranges etc. Can you get any details for ranges for Mig-17/19 and 21?

F-105 is totally broken on the SP3 database, it just don't work.

F-4E and B-52's should get some missions, aren't they?

Vietnam does not have edited tactical reference, its the one from SP3.

On the map Display for the Historic VN CMPN.
Is it possible to add the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
I'm only in the third day of the Campaign,
so I dont know what enters the sim later in the war.

I noticed that a couple of American ground units have "Stingers". I am not sure they were in service at the time, but I could be wrong.

I just got done flying a BUFF mission that was totally a blast. SAM's all over the place and 3 flights of Buffs. I had to turn on the label feature to see what I had going.
Man there were bomb strings all falling in the same area. I actually got goose-bumps.
Poor VC/NVA must have thought the world was ending. Thanks Snakeman. (Frame rate didn't slow down one bit.)

On the map we can pretty much add what we want. Can you provide more historic / detailed information about Ho Chi Minh Trail?

They were not. Vietnam uses modified SP3 database and when we add M-16 Infantry unit, there is lot more weapons than just COLT M-16's... like stingers.

Hopefully we get some Vietnam units created sometime.

I've been working on that. I cant seem to find a good map for you, but I'll keep trying.
The trail was a major supply route that never could be destroyed. It had a fast repair time because the NVA would take people
from the closest village and turn them into repair workers. I'll send you some good info when I get it.

hope it helps.
