Broken runways, install problem.

Post by mire » 2001-04-04 22:41:00

I've tried to install the Vietnam terrain a few times now, the last time I did it all completely from scratch.
Everything goes smooth and it's problem free until I enter the campaign and is situated on a broken runway. What I mean by that is that the runway and airport features is cut up and it's pieces are at different heights.
It looks to me as if the airports have wrong locations, instead of being situated in level areas they are in mountanous locations.
I'm guessing that maybe the airports are in new Vietnam locations and the terrain itself is Korea or vice versa. I can't tell for sure since everything from the install and campaign selection map to the cockpit kneeboard map, is Vietnam and seems right.

I'm running a normal F4 RP4.1 erazor install with FPatch expanded and erazor, RP4.1 and Vietnam selected.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? What am I doing wrong? Is there specific items in erazor or RP4.1 that I need to select/deselect?

I've done everything by by the book as far as I know. I've looked at some posts on this messageboard and followed the instructions, but it hasn't helped. The problem has been consistent and the same everytime I've tried.

Please help out!

Thats called a "stairs effect" Image But now we got problem, I checked all squadrons that exist in the Vietnam campaign and those airbases are terrain leveled.

Can you please identify the airbase where did you see this stairs effect WHEN SELECTING SQUADRON to fly?

Ok, looks like the problem is bigger than I thought Image
I get the "stairs effect" at Pleiku and DaNang. The ATC uses Korea names, but I'm guesssing that isn't a problem.
As for the others; Ubon, Amphoe, Sakon Hakhon and Korat I got the these results:
The pie screen stopped at the 2nd pie for several minutes, then it exited to the debrief screen showing the mission in progress. When I closed the debrief the frag list was empty and pretty much nothing happened. All these "bugs" are reproducible.
I didn't bother to test the rest as the whole process took a long time and with the same results.

What do you think?

No, everything should be fresh...
F4 installed as in my first post.
VietnamTheater4.exe
VietnamCampaignv0.4.2-beta.zip
from your website.
I even downloaded those files again today to be sure my files were ok.
When the exe is finished installing the readme is blank and I'm asked if I want to create one. This has always been the case.
Like I said, I've done everything the install dialog instructs me to do. And today I installed the newly downloaded files again; same results Image sorry, but it's true Image
What could possibly be wrong?
I could give you a detailed description of my entire F4, RP4.1, erazor and Vietnam installation if you think it matters; what I have selected in F4Patch and so on...
Maybe you could tell how and what you install and select and I could follow your footsteps and see if that changes things, just a thought...

I have no idea, but I do know that all the squadron airbases are background tiled and terrain leveled. There is no stairs effect on those.
