Can Falcon handle 192 theater?

Hi all.
I have a question. Can F4 engine handle 192 theater (it is 3x3 64theater)?
I dont see any reason why it must be 64, 128 or 256.

This is a picture of extended eu theater (64 seg east + north).
There is a small portion of missing data in upper-east corner, but I can fill the gap easily.

I started to think about this idea few weeks ago, when started to develop modern
eu campaign "Baltic oops 2006" for Eu 128.
The Baltic states area is quite "narow" in current eu theater. The red army has to occupy some blue bases as well (if we want balanced campaign). The sea "border line" situated on the edge of theatre is not very beauty as well...

Dont worry about a projection, it is exactly the same as in old theater. The old one is situated in bottom left, so no objectives placement offstet needed for older CAMs.

Another advantage is, dandixie just started to develop new nordic theater.
But we can share some objectives in case he will use this 192 terrain...

Falcon 4 only supports power of two theater sizes; 64, 128, 256. Smaller theaters like 16, 32 should be doable, 512 is not I'm afraid (not sure but I think I tested this once and it is just too big).

192 x 192 segment theater size will not work.

192 x 192 segment theater size will not work.
OK, then 256 would be a choice.

Just a sugesstion.

(Of course the final terrain would have all gaps filled - there are isles in north sea and interresting land in the east as well.. )

There are 2 separated theaters on the image(Eu 128 and solid red colour - possible new Nordic128, solid blue is the new Nordic with different projection(dandixie's) - useless for big one). They can be merged into one big some day(or even tomorrow).

The big one can be the blue, green or orange one for example.
I would personaly prefer the blue 256 Eu (large north cap operations).
On the other hand the orange 256 would be also interresting ( connected to the blacksea!- but there are a lot of dedicated and incompatibile theaters in the area ).


BTW the new Nordic (red) theater is selected according to the "segment resolution" - the red checker (for better import export).

But it is getting offtopic under current subject.
Just a sugesstion - before the work on the new Nordic theater starts in a full strenght.

P.S. I have many configs for handeling Tom's hitiles done. We can just enlarge tile map for CATE and convert the current 128 Eu into the 256Eu. But Norwegian team could handle 128 crop if they want. But its a pitty to close a door to the "big chance". But the truth is, Tom gave us a permission for Eu theater (we can ask)

SnakeMan, may I ask you to rename this toppic please?
The new name would be "Enlarging Eu theatre" for example.
Or use some other well suited name for it, if you wish (with your better english).

32 x 32 doesn't work - Panama started life as 32 x 32, but as 0.0 is always 0.0 (bottom left corner) only the lower left quarter was used, so I imported Panama 32 x 32 into a 64 x 64 whole sea theater and centralised it.

64 x 64 is the smallest F4 can handle.

Now I really dont know, which one is my favourite!
Perhaps the green one due to the Iceland presence.
There is complete Iceland isle in the area and also part of the Greenland(incomplete on the picture).

I had a suspicion of it already before, but was not able to download more data - I thaught, I got a 72 hours ban in DEM data site. But it was just some kind of misunderstand or web page error...

I can not wait to model vulcanos (there is perhaps already prepared such asmoking objective in db? - if not, I can place few factories in the bottom of the creater!)

oops - it's first time i got this info.. i always think 32x32 small theater is doable.( without code edit).

i think you can change it yourself by editing first post.
And a 256x256 is too big for the F4 engine to properly task ground units (I think demer stated this?).
If you got many key objectives to secure in 256 theater, most GUs will become "static, stay at obj/defensive", and short of surplus GUs for maenuvoring/major offensive. so.. reducing the "key objectives-high priority value ones" could be the way to run dynamic ground war.

IIRC there is a vulcano obj in FF3 or FF5 DB.. with four or five smoking trail features. it was added in SP or F4Alliance era..probably for vulcano in Italy/Balkan theater. i don't know this obj is used in any version of Balkan theaters.

BTW, glad to hear somebody interested in modding Nordic/Baltic/Iceland :mrgreen:

I know it's in the AF database. Yes, used for Balkans (the volcano on Sicily I think).
