Theater editing organization table is a list of people who are contributing to PMC theaters by editing the files.

There is a big problem right now as we have for example Luk and Tobias Adam working on terrain + campaign on Europe theater, as well as Demer and Sherlock working on Iran campaign.

Tacedit has limited export/import capability for campaign objectives/units, Terrainview has quite nice export/import capability for segments... however it is very tricky situation when several people are working simultaneously on the same files.

This topic is very rough right now, but I'm trying my best to organize the people editing. Sure this doesn't do much more than list who is editing what, but eventually I want to refine some actual methods of how to use the tools and transfer the files which are then merged into final theater.

Please post ideas and suggestions!

Please post if you are willing to edit on some areas or are already editing.

I didn't add anyone except Red Dog besides me on the list now, because I don't want to "assume" anything by adding people there, so please reply to this topic and say which category you want to edit or are already doing so.

Yes this is just generic topic, we don't mention any theaters... I think it would be overkill right now to open similar topic to all different theaters. We'll use this for now and see how it goes.

Please guys who are editing, support me on this organization effort because at the end of the day, its YOUR work that is on the line here, we don't want any of it to go wasted :)

i think you could put a sticky thread on EACH dedicated theater forum.
so ppl could know who's handling what part of the theater.

I'm in for FF only in all area's that you need help.Except for AF..HAHAHA!!!!
Just kidding!!!! I'm knock'n the rust off my AF install now Sherlock.
There are many COMMON file's shared by the different version's.As far as writing common .cam file's across the board, that is impossible due to the different Code\DB's used.
The Sharing of info between the variou's dev.'s is prob'ly most important.
For example; I found 3 bridge's in Iran Theater set as beach\volcano when opened in FF.Are they the same in AF...dunno!?!?! But,Sherlock would now know to look at the AF .cam and see if he had the same situation...etc.

Well could you please pinpoint maybe few areas you feel really comfortable which wouldn't cause any problems for you to edit, that would be great?

All,except for FF expert,I would like to reserve that for Hustler!!!! If he would like to come on board. Dunno...!!!!
I thought his vision was to Share\Help the community with what we had learned when we were done with F'n KOREA!!!!!. Hope that is still true.

Pinpoint an area?!?!?!Hmmm......... After 10 year's of "Hacking" this thing?????...........again ALL for FF if need be.
I will leave AF to Sherlock as he and I can easily transfer our observation's between ourselve's and you(PMC).
As far as OF\BMS IMHumbleO it is a "Deadhorse",you would need to get one of those dev's (if there are any left) over even to think about it!!!

Yeh. I've had a dream to add more variations of terrain tiles but I'm not much of an artist for that sort of thing. My skills lie in other areas. :P

Check Community development work; the tools & files for technical editing details.

BTW guys, lets keep this topic clean for "organization" discussion, not what specific theater needs for specific campaign/tiles/etc.

I think, the only weakness of this thread is lack of "sorting according to theaters". I hope, you can understand, what I mean. Just wanna say, I want to help (advice) where I can. But my work is focused on EU - even such a focused workload is huge.
If the purpose of this thread is "just" to show, whom to ask for help/advice, then it is ok.
BTW guys, lets keep this topic clean for "organization" discussion, not what specific theater needs for specific campaign/tiles/etc.
So should we make a new separated thread for particular theaters (for such a concrete discussion)?

I hope nobody else is working on Eu terrain beside me. As I said in another thread - I work also outside "preserved" black rectangle.

Dunno what Tobi is doing with cam file at the moment. I guess he makes some compatibility FF5 tests. There are not many possibilitess with "L2 stage" he has. There were just few blue bases in L2- not coresponding to cam + some Czech red bases (most of them corresponding to CAM). Now it is much more advanced. Beside a lot of overall fixes, there are a lot of tuned ABs. But I still change the CAM and L2 everyday. I started to place SAM sites to L2/CAM and it works perfect. Just need some objectives document for future extensive work first.

You can write me in the tilemaking chore.
Also soon I am going to post something new. Something which can be used by anyone with JUST basic painting skills to make tiles. Hopefully this can provide needed boost here.
I just wish there was more terrain editing tools to make part of the terrain photoreal (even in very small parts).

Agreed. I wish lightning wasn't so busy with Real Life and coding at Viperpits.org so he could code us some new terrain tiling utilities. :)

Sorry, Snakeman, if I went off topic!!!!!
Just that Sherlock is doing his path work on an incomplete TileSet....That's alll.

Put me in for FF DB's and .cam edit's.H*ll put me in as FF Expert\Guru 'til Hustler come's on board,it's his code\DB anyway!!!
I am just priviledged to be able to look at it for the time being.

I will try to help the other(AF\OF) guy's where I can.
Although I have the BMS code I have been told by the dev's. it has been changed radicaly so prob'ly not even close to 4.7. As well, the snippet's of decompiled AF code I have are few and far between, something that is readable in context, unless you understand C++.

STATEMENT: I WILL NOT RELEASE ANY TOOLS\CODE TO THE COMMUNITY, THAT HAVE BEEN GIV'IN TO ME OVER THE YEARS.IF THE DEVELOPER'S OF SAID CODE\TOOLS WISH TO DO THAT,THEN IT IS UP TO THEM.PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO GET THEM FROM ME,YOU WILL BE LEFT COLD. Demer

But,I agree with Luk,you may want to make it more theater specific.
For instance, Sherlock and I are heavily into Iran ATM. Sherlock for AF,me for FF.
Because of our ability to communicate we are following parrallel path's so to speak.
There are Common file's between the version's,as you know, but what may be discovered in one version may also help the other version's!!!

I'm fairly good at making a mess of .cam files. I'm pretty much FF only. I would like to document my work such that Sherlock or whomever could make it backwards compatible for AF with a few tweaks.

I used to think I was getting pretty good at .cam hacking, but I've had some trouble adjusting from FF4 to FF5.5.

At any rate, I'm still onboard if a bit delayed ATM by real life.

Mike,

Your .cam files can be my Wing man any day. We're looking forward to getting into a set here very soon.
