Help from you gurus please

Post by ViperMan » 2003-05-10 21:16:00

Firstly, thanks to SnakeMan for promptly replying to my email and authorising me to post on this forum :)

Anyway, here's the story. About 6 months ago I started working on a Falklands theatre for SP3, unfortunatley due to real life stuff I simply didn't have the time. About a week ago due to being hasseled by various people and with the advent of SP4 and it's extra naval model, I started to dig out my old work and see if I could continue where I left off; which I have been doing so successfully since. This is a brief list of my progress so far:

- Huge amount of research completed into the conflict via the internet and books.

- Terrain has been constructed. Using CATE and TerrainView, I've manually checked and altered 50% of the terrain to my liking.

- I've made 55 512x512 tiles for specific use with the theatre. At this stage the remainder of the used tiles are the default F4 ones, although after I get more of the theatre built I would like complete 100% of the tiles.

- Basic campaign/PAKS etc complete purely for testing purposes.

- UI artwork/maps/buttons/splash screens etc are complete for the theatre.

Ok, now for the questions I would like some help with:

1). When I try to launch my test campaign/te/ia through the UI, F4 tries to load it and freezes. It doesn't CTD's but just freezes. To exit I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL. Any idea what's happening and why it won't load?

2). As from today TacEdit isn't working properly. For some reason regardless of the .cam/.tac file I load it shows all objectives as small squares instead of the relevent icon.

Thanks in advance for any help, I would really like to get this little project of mine working. Please post any general advice I should know when trying to build me theatre.

many theater-related models are ready for use.

Viperman, perhaps you can send me your campaign folder.
you probabaly messed something up, yet looking at that folder for a few minutes gives usually answers alot sooner then asking and answering a thousand questions.

leave me a PM with yar email adress if youi want to send it.

Thanks for the prompt reply people. I've already sifted through the old Yahoo Falklands group and salvaged anything of use.

WidowMaker - Thanks for the offer, check your PM's and I'll email it to you.
