Tiling error?

Hey guys,

I just made a new 512 sea texture and named it HCOST00F.pcx The tile was made in Photoshop 7 and saved as .pcx with index colours. Exactly the same way as the sea texture HCOST00F.pcx file found in the 512 ODS theater.

After that i wanted to test and see what the texture would look like in 'real life' so i openend op the texture.zip file from the 512 ODS theater and replaced the excisting HCOST00F file with my new one. Twaelti came up with replacing sea textures this way, so i figured i could do it in the same way... well.. guess not..

I loaded up Falcon and made a simple TE from an island to see my new sea textures.. The textures do appear.. but they look distorted and have a totally different color. They look all white.. For snow textures they look pretty cool.. but that isn't my intention..

So my (burning) question is... Why don't my textures show in the right way, and why do they look so distorted????

its a palette problem then... you need to have all L M T H tiles of one single texture set the same palette. Please read the tutorials and the thread in this forum "how to create 512 tiles" ;)

btw: this is a texture error not a tiling error. tiling errors are when a certain type of ground tile with its texture is in the wrong place... :)

Damn.. i've read all the tutorials on this site.. i've even printed them and made a complete documentation out of them. :) :D Anyway, thanx for the feedback.

-edit: The tiles did show correct in Terrainview.. So i figured the format was good.. guess i figured wrong :D

Is it possible to have 1024 tiles for sea textures and to keep all the others 512?

I was going to say that the palette of the tile(s) might be wrong, but since you only use one ...

Are you sure the palette is 256 colors or better yet 0-252 colors used (253-255 white and not used) like said in our texture tutorial?

Could you post a screenshot of the tile ingame and maybe have the tile available for download?
